Market View

A combination of factors has lifted the EURUSD over 1.2100 into the first band of resistance. German efforts to block Euro zone financial aid where rejected, Spanish bonds sales had good demand and Trichet announced yesterday after the ECB left rates steady at 1% that they would continue the emergency loans to banks until September. The strong export numbers by China yesterday also gave a boost to the commodity currencies with AUDUSD finding itself back up to the 0.8500 area. Overnight has been very quiet but once again China has reported more strong numbers with industrial production up 16.5% from last year and retail sales up 18.7%. These strong numbers are giving some encouragement to investors of the start to a global recovery led by China and the rest of the Far East. No figures of note from Europe, UK figures at 9.30 am including Industrial production and PPI numbers but some figures from the U.S. might get overshadowed as the Football world cup gets under way. BP shares continue to trade lower and the company has now lost around half of its value since the disaster erupted with the total value dropping from £125bn to £70bn. This has given to the rise of some talk of a takeover bid which it turn would potentially lead to a huge boost to GBP – one to watch.


Currency View

GBP has rallied towards the top end of recent ranges just below the recent high of 1.4770. Sellers have emerged again as the market continues to want to play the range. A break of 1.4770 has a chance or reaching 1.5000 for the first time in a month. Support now at 1.4610 with a break targeting 1.4520 once again. Although it looks like we might try another push higher it remains to be seen how sustainable it will be.
EURGBP looks to test the support at 0.8200 with a break that should signal the start of another push lower with a medium term target of 0.7700. Only over 0.8400 would worry short term traders with sellers in front of that at 0.8350 to 0.8380.
EUR resistance lies at 1.2150 with a chance to push towards 1.2200. The market is still looking to sell rallies with this rally viewed very much as some short term respite rather than crisis over. Support now at 1.2080 and 1.2020 as we still look for fresh yearly lows in the coming weeks.
JPY not much change here with EURJPY buying overnight giving USDJPY a boost. Support lies at 90.95 with a break targeting 90.50 with stops below targeting 90.00. Above the resistance at 91.60 with a break looking towards 92.10 and 92.80 above that. Buying on dips still preferred as we look for a move towards 95.00 over the coming weeks.

yes - by the Serbian team, unfortunately we hear only good. also you know some good players already in our league. which is pretty hard!

Yeah, Robben is good but he will not play at the first game.. Today he will fly to South Africa to join the group.. But looks good(he is medically fit again), first game to early(coach doesn't want to take risk), but second game is possible...

But as they say - the game takes 90 minutes and at the end... Germany is world champion

Pantelic was a good player while he was playing for Red Star (my favourite team). He isnt so good as he was (he was one of the best while he was playing for RS) , beware of Krasic, Zigic,Jovanovic
