For me when I first started it was the long hours of screen time.

For me it's losing the positions that look so sure-fire and even after they are lost it's hard to find the reason for that or a system that would avoid such trades.

Stop loss getting hit to the pip n then price bouncing more than a 100 pips.

My own is "Immediate Draw Down" You find the trend, place your order, and immediately the market shoots the opposite direction of you order. I hate that. Every entry order I place always experiences immediate draw down. Always.

I tested this theory one day by using 2 pips take profit and 20 or 70 pips stop losses, and guess what happened
Thank God I stopped trading that way.

To open a trade, then wait to close it, after 48 hours of lateral market between 30 pips I can't wait more and close it with tiny profit or no profit, then, a couple of hours after the price begin to move +200 pips in the direction of my former trade, but during the move I don't dare to entry because I have fear of a retracement.

Jhig that is my pet hate. So much so that I thought it was an Aha! moment when I started placing market orders so that at least the price picks up my order in the direction I want to go.

Now it frustrates me by going slightly into profit for about 1 minute, then sharply reversing into "immediate draw down" LOL

Let me piggy-back off that and say, at time I think too much. Sometimes thinking too much about the direction of the trade has hindered me at times. Instead of just taking a second to get the direction and place my entry, sometimes I'll go over every possible scenario and usually miss a good opportunity.

I have a friend thats pretty good at trading without any knowledge of the market. He goes with the flow. Doesn't know how to trade with indicator, price action, or s/r level. He'll look at the market and place the order. Of course his results are varied but he always seems to be up (profit) for the year. It amazes me to watch this dude trade. All but a second to find the trend and he places the trade. Here I am, looking over daily chart, weekly charts, news reports on the eur, reversal candlestick formations, whole number s/r levels, trendline analytics ... and in some months he makes more than triple than I've made in a month. Did I mention he trades using line charts.

hmm, i trade like your friend

but i have all the technical knowledge
not sure how much of it effects my decision
most everytime i feel im guessing at best, it works

only reason im profitable is cause theres long trends that last many months
without trends, id be doomed

i don't know if there are really any trends going right now, just lots of fear. every day there are rumors flying until the are either admitted or disproved. that is what has affected my trading, i miss all the good trades and trade the bad ones!! luckily i am trading deom, that way i haven't lost any money lately.

i think it has calmed down a little, so i think what i have been using to trade with as per signals seems to be giving me some good entries and exits. now i just have to stick to it and be patient. that has always been my issue, but i need to learn it to grow. time will tell.

move up a time frame until you find it

i use the daily chart, ema 50 shows nice trend

To ease the frustration forcus most of your efforts on money managment. Deciding how much you want to bet is the only thing you can control. Everything else is beyond your control. People talk to much about entries and exits and spend a lot of their time trying to time them perfectly. Its really not necessary. Every trade that you make is purely based on luck . How ever you decide to pick your stock, commodity, bond, or any other trading investment, don't concentrate to much on how and when your going to enter. Concentrate more on how your going to exit and let price do all the talking. Concentrate more on how much your going to buy considering what your doing with the rest of your portfolio. Profits will come by themselves. The only thing that's not chance is how you bet. You decide. You decide how much you want to lose if price goes against you. You decide how much your going to risk per a trade. You decide what your going to trade. You decide how much your going to let your account value fluctuate. You decide what timeframe your going to trade in. You decide how your going to measure the volatility of the instruments your trading. You decide what kind of stop loss your going to have on your account as a whole on a daily, monthly, and yearly basis. The things that you can control, are the things that you should focus on the most. Everything else is beyond your control. There is an excel document about money management that id like to upload but its not letting me...Id like for people here to see it

you are right, but to a point. we have control of most everything, the only thing we have no control of is PA. there are many ways to look for entries and exits, and we can decide to do so, we have control over that. what we are frustrated about is whether or not those entries and exits are head fakes or not. everyone here wants to maximize profits and minimize losses, and we can do that through mm, but not solely thru mm. i think we are all trying to be like tom cruise and dustin hoffman in rainman in vegas, looking for an edge so we can beat the house.
