Throughout these trials we have had people with settings problems, people
with negative back test results, people with negative attitudes and people who
think that for the EA to be any good it should have worked in previous years.
The only thing that matters is that throughout all these discussions and
warnings of imminent doom the EA has been making profit!
There are big differences using the EA on different brokers, much bigger
differences than I would have thought possible and this is a worry as more
people try it, these differences are going to result in losses for a few.
I don't know what we can do about this and I welcome any suggestions!

Tweak this simple little EA as best you can with the input of participants here, but please do not beat yourself up if it ain't perfect. As I read through the many pages, NO one is complaining, and all appear to be most grateful to you. Including me!
Besides, the quirks and idiosyncrasies of the many brokers preclude perfection!

I would like to comment similar to Raymond.
I think he found the very best way to put anyone's feelings in words who has an honest approach towards your idea, your work and your thread. It is you who kept everything alive, all the way from your initial idea, your generosity in sharing and your wisdom, all of which finally resulted in v9.
My honest wish is that your generosity may be rewarded with lots of success for your business as you proofed an outstanding entrepreneurship effort. But I think to have given you already a few hints in other mails/posts so I am in danger of repeating myself.
In any case have a very good weekend and please.....be proud of what you did!

Just want to share my thought. I think you have done a lot and very generous in sharing your EA. To that personally I thank you very much.
The problem is a lot of readers (including me ?) are inpatient to read the thread from the beginning. Most would like to jump straight to using the EA, and thus encountering a lot of the problem mentioned.
Also, not every newbie (including me) understand perfectly how to do a valid back-test, and hence having different results and so forth.
As long as this thread is open to reader from all level, this kind of things cannot be avoided. Everyone should know individually where he stands, and exercise care in using the EA if running on live account.
To Geoff, don't for a moment feel bad about all this. I think this is a very good thread, and hence so many enthusias followers.

I had previously bought an EA that had automatic GMT offset calculated into the EA. Is that a script that is readily available in the general domain to add to this gem that would then make it foolproof?
It's only a thought as I know nought about programming.

according to theory it should be possible to add automatic gmt detection. I am working on it, I ll pm you as soon as that finished. I am not good mql programmer, but I think I should be able to finish with in this week.

How can GMT offset be a problem? I cannot believe that people doesn't know what time zone their broker is working!?
Geoffb already made great job. You just need to run the EA ... if you cannot find what time zone your broker is, then you should find another job to do. This is something you should least know about your broker.

Geoffb already made great job. You just need to run the EA ... if you cannot find what time zone your broker is, then you should find another job to do. This is something you should least know about your broker.

That is reality. People would like to have everything served, and if possible someone else press the button on their behalf.

and see the difference in hours? This is something first grade kid
can do. Why waisting time and bites for those who cannot simple
calculate pre-school math? Those going to lose money anyways
with or without EA.
