It's actually a bull wedge. But that doesn't mean it will start a significant bullish movement, it just means that would usually be the bias. Note that price drifts out of wedges all the time. It did a little last night and people were calling for the break upwards. Patience guys, and don't rely so heavily on chart patterns.

I sort of agree with Skyzer, the dollar is dead ... has been dead for a while now. The problem with the dollar is volatility and volatility equals profit. The essential idea of trading it to trade the largest, fastest moving market to turn a profit. The average daily range of EU is 120 pips. Not really a of movement in a day for traders to profits off of. Look at it this way, before i place a price action trade (need three candlesticks to be obtained for entry) and by the time my entry is set, price action would have hit it's daily high. Most of us made mad profits a few weeks back when EU was moving 300-400 pips a day; an example of what I'm talking about. EU and other dollar pairs are moving off of liquidity (spikes), not volatility. Trading true trend on dollar pairs require 2-3 days of holding the position.

Most intraday traders moved on over to volatile crosses. specifically Eur and Gbp crosses. I moved to Eur/Aud and Eur/Nzd, two of the riskiest pairs in the world. I accept that risk in search of more daily profits, being an pure intraday (day trader) trader. A look at Gbp/Jpy and Gbp/Chf and you'll quickly realized the majority retail/professional trading base is hanging out with those pairs. Volatility = profits. A lot of traders don't want to believe it but it's true. Any pair that has the ability to moved 300 pip average a day, traders should be able to profit at least 100pips off a three hundred pip range daily range.

Thanks, interesting point, I only look at those pairs rarely.. Will have to

keep my eyes on them as well, I guess

A lot of traders say this, and some I hold in high regard, but it's not this simple. If we know nothing else about a market than its daily range, the only difference between 100atr and 200atr markets is that we will trade the 200atr with half the size, with a stop and target twice as large. Pips alone mean absolutely nothing.

Sorry for the offtopic but what do you people use for S&P charts?

I was using AvaFx demo but it died on me and it`s giving errors now... and i don`t really know other brokers who show it 23/5.

This is one of the points why traders trade volatile pair. A 10 Lot position (1 million) trades on EU will be just the same as trading 10 Lot position on GJ, the only difference is momentum. A 20 pip run of EU can at time be a long run (based on time) but a 20 pips run on GJ will happen in no time and if the trend holds up, you'll have multiple opportunities to jump back in. I wouldn't trust jumping back in on EU, lot of indecision.

This is a question that has always bothered me. Through quantative easing, the government bought up a lot of their own paper from banks, right? If they raise rates, wouldn't the value of that paper increase, thus driving government debt down? Not sure I totally understand the negative ramifications of raising rates now. I mean, as Hoening pretty much said, 1% is still pretty accomodative to banks.

I've made a career out of trading chart patterns. I'm just wondering why you give this out as advice?

Hi and thanks... I am already well-versed in all those concepts. So I guess what you are really saying is that the trader needs to know his or her way around the playing field asitwere, in order to be able to hedge successfully and get in and out at the right spots without getting caught up in an untenable situation makes sense to me.

go back to chart.. look at the levels we are currently at..simply find the mid mark.. @ 2171.6 .. not perfect but we missed by less then a single pip.. it would be kinda funny if that was the last time we were this high again forever. you can also look at the chart target.. that chart is 2 r 3 weeks old.. we hit all the others so far..
