Good technique for hedge fund.
Buying cheap euro with strong dollar/yen then apply it to blow down euro.

if iran is selling $45 billion that's major news, but why would they want to announce ahead of time. would you if you wanted a good price, unless tehy're desperate, in which case it sorts of makes sense, as they just got a loan from russia.

LATE NEWS: Is a war between Israel and Iran imminent? We can‟t take anything for granted.
There is so much activity right now, it‟s almost suspicious. With the commando raid by the
Israelis, the tension has escalated greatly.
Last week Israel started a 5-day military exercise covering the whole country. Syria has placed
its air force and air defense forces on high alert. Hezbollah has moved thousands of its troops
to South Lebanon and placed the border region on a war footing against a possible Israeli
attack.
The White House had invited President Netanyahu of Israel to a meeting at the White House
(WH) for today, after giving him the cold shoulder just a few weeks ago when Netanyahu
visited the WH. Yesterday (Memorial Day), Netanyahu cancelled the meeting, although he was
in Canada. Reason given: the commando raid that didn‟t go well. Is that the real reason?

On May 22, John Kerry, Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, arrived in
Damascus for talks with President Bashar Assad. That‟s his 5th visit to Syria. A spokesman
said "Chairman Kerry planned to speak with President Assad about a range of issues critical to
the stability of the region."
Go to the Israeli website, www.debka.com, for information about a US nuclear sub going into
the Persian Gulf, and two U.S. aircraft carriers now being positioned there, with 6000
combatants.
Furthermore, the White House chief of staff, whose father was born in Israel, was visiting Israel
this weekend.
The month of May had the worse stock market decline in seven decades (for May). Could it be
informed selling before a war? The only argument against that is that oil did not soar. Ahead of
9/11, we sold short as technical our work indicated big selling several weeks ahead of that
tragedy.
Perhaps all this is just saber-rattling. We don‟t want to paint the devil on the wall, but it pays to
be alert. We always ask, “What if?” Don‟t be short the energy stocks. Buy some very cheap,
out of the money call options on them instead.

Interesting - maybe buy AUD or the rand and go direct to the Australian and SA gold mines, buy $45B of gold and stick two fingers up at the $$$$$
The Australian mines will ideally want AUD not USD.

theres no way theyre gonna buy AUD.....theyll buy usd and gold

aus economy is starting to have their own shitstorm with housing market that may evolve into a big problem for their economy....this all stems from the world credit crisis of 07-08....its like a ripple effect, now look at all these problems world economy is having-----chinese bubble about to burst, europe did, australia is next.....this is gonna be a very very long battle, these problems wont be fixed in this decade....

These + pending home sales might spark rally up meaning US economy is recovering and boosts risk taking.

Why would they want to buy a currency that fairs poorly in tough economic conditions?
