DislikedYou are correct that it was a four digit broker. I also have a five digit account and will try it there, as well.Ignored
DislikedHi Geoff,
Been lurking in this thread for the last 3 weeks and finally decided to ask a question. I just hope its not the most stupid question you'll answer this week.
Like you I'm based in the UK and not a consistently good manual trader. I have good runs and then blow all my winning trades with one badly thought out trade. You know the one I mean. The one that you just can't believe you took. Hindsight eh.
Your ea is a revelation in itself and my praise for your efforts and generosity cannot do justice to your dedication.
I'll eventually...Ignored
DislikedI am not familiar with spread betting but I thought it was more "long term"
than our way of trading on the spot market!
If you can see the correlation between the two you could PM the details to
me, I like to keep this thread clear of different ideas.Ignored

If the model shows 90% win rate then Im happy to use 10% risk per trade
On 2 orders opening with 140 pips of risk per contract my total risk will be 280 pips
On a $10,000 account and using 10% I can risk $1,000
With GBPUSD giving me $10 per pip if I lose 280 pips I lose $2800 which exceeds my 10%
Cheers

DislikedIt's not a different idea Geoff just a different way of trading and your profits are tax free. You can trade it spot or longer term. I was interested in spot trading using your method, same as I do with Alpari and FX Lite demo. I trade live with IG index on spot and quarterly, monthly instruments but thats not relevant to your method only the spot. Prices are the same. I'll have a look at the platform to see if it accepts EA's.Ignored
DislikedOne thing you need to bear in mind is that the EA only works on MT4 platform.Ignored
DislikedI have traded with spread betting companys before, prob the top 5 and just be careful
end of day trading where you are holding for days is fine day trading can be an issue. For example your sitting on a nice profit and you want to close Ive waited 2-3 mins for a quote and by the time I get it my profits have been erroded..same for entering a market ive had huge slippage
Also they can manipulate the bias of the spread and if trading is your 1st and only income you will be taxed.
Dont want to have a debate cluttering the thread its great to see...Ignored
DislikedInteresting view. And what you going to do if you'll get 10 loses?
Your account will be nice and clean. Do you understand difference
between Real time trading and Backtesting? I hope you do, before you
lose your account.. Actually it's very risky to bet $1000 to make $50-100
Would you survive something like this?
5 month data backtest on IBFX live Version V8 with safe settings (TP 14 SL 130)
Full report included (Bet is 1$ a pip)Ignored
Dislikedive had that on day trading but the principle there is that my winners are bigger than my losers so its not so much of a worry.

DislikedWell I run the same test on the other broker and came out
about same as on IBFX (All default settngs)..
Now I want to know, what exactly is
wrong, when 1 backtest showing no loses and mine showing
almost no profit for 6 month in total. Not sure what you mean by
"winners are bigger than my losers" Losers are 130-140 pips
and winners 14-22 pips generally. To recover one loss
you'll need 8-10 winners.. I'm not saying EA is bad, just
trying to figure out why my backtests are so horrible?Ignored
DislikedHi Sky
What is the spread for your broker when you did these tests?Ignored
DislikedIBFX mostly got 4 pips spread on GU, sometimes it's 3 pips but very rare.Ignored
DislikedAlpari change the spread to 8 at the weekend and I wondered
if your broker does the same.Ignored
DislikedActually IBFX closed on Friday right at NY Markets close (20 GMT) and opens
about 22 GMT on Sunday (1 hour before our trigger time)..
We have bunch of guys looking this thread, I'd like some more people
with different brokers run v8 Default settings test
just 6 month till Friday and post what they have (It's only takes 8-10 min most).
Interesting to see what they gonna come up with.Ignored
DislikedI have a noob question on backtesting.
During backtesting, suppose a sell order is made (at BID price) at a particular hr bar and then 10 periods later, this order is close for some profits at the ASK price.
Is this ASK price the 'real' ASK price of the broker at that time or is this ASK price dependent on the EA (perhaps with a specific spread programmed in it)?
Thank-you very much in advance!
