Pardon my intrusion as this is an Fx thread but has anyone started loading up on stocks in general? I'm seeing more downside on equities but just trying to get some general feeling from regular folks .

I haven't. But the kind of things I would notice is a long candlestick shadow on very high volume. Or a gap down after a long drop (exhaustion gap) or a gap up (breakaway gap). In general though, I'd be tempted to wait until prices can surpass moving averages before buying. This could be a way to stop yourself from urges to buy too early.

Some people are saying they haven't seen a capitulation yet. And the 962 billion bailout according to one person on Bloomberg may only last until August of this year. It's very difficult to say if or when things will finally crack so you could buy on really depressed prices. Out of the various index ETFs, sector ETFS and individual stocks, I'd prefer the ticker symbol SSO. But one interesting possibility in the following months if prices really crash might be long term out-of-the-money call options on SPY or QQQQ unless implied volatilities are too high. Or, someone could always buy SSO on margin and buy an out-of-the-money put option on SPY as protection from the downside. Then again, I bet a lot of people would be hot and horny to go long the AUD/USD once things settle especially if the price crashes a lot. It could become a bargain and you'd receive interest for holding the position.

The Euro weakened for the second day and with Asian stock markets also falling sharply other then other more high risk currencies like the Australian Dollar was also on the retreat. Concern that the Eurozone debt crisis is spreading and that the banking sector was being put under severe stress has seen much of last weeks gains wiped out for the Euro. The IMF has urged Spain to do more to overhaul its banking sector.
The Euro fell from 1.2370 down to 1.2271 having risen from a four year low of 1.2144 to reach 1.2673 late last week. The IMF chief economist said that the package set up with the EU should be sufficient to deal with the debt crisis.
The Dollar slipped from 90.30 to 89.87 as the Nikkei tumbled another 3.3% and its lowest level in five months. Tension between the two Koreans continues to worry Asian markets. The slowdown in economic growth is continuing to see a flight to the Yen against most currencies.
Sterling fell to 1.4326 from 1.4410 but rose slightly against the Euro touching .8562 from .8578 respectfully. The BOE’s Posen said that there is a low risk of deflation in the U.K. and the U.S. but it is still possible.
The Aussie fell to .8172 from .8250 as demand for commodities weakens across the globe. The Kiwi hit .6652 from .6726 while the Canadian Dollar was at 1.0710 from 1.0629 respectfully.
Comments from the U.S.-China meeting in Beijing have highlighted the European problem more than the Yuan currency rate.

Thanks. Yea, was talking to a banker over the weekend and he said the "situation is unclear" and he's glad to be going for a holiday this week. Haha!

STG.. Bids at 1.4325 but stops at 1.4315 can see a dip to 1.4240/50 region. Below 1.4230 targets 1.4100 area again. Offers at 1.4390 and 1.4420 but above 1.4430 would see a test of 1.4510/20 again. Stops at 1.4525 can see a rise to 1.4590 or even 1.4640 zone.

EURSTG.. Good support at .8550/70 area but below ..8545 would see stop loss orders that triggers a dip to .8500 zone. More stops at ..8490 can target .8450 again. Offers start at .8600 but above .8610 would see a rise to .8650 again. More stops expected at .8660 that would see a spike to ..8720 region.

EUR.. Support at 1.2250 and 1.2220 but below 1.2210 can see a dip to around the low of 1.2145 area. More stops through 1.2125 expected that would target 1.1952 area. Offers seen at 1.2340/50 but above 1.2355 can see a rise to 1.2410 again. More offers at 1.2435 but above 1.2440 may see 1.2520 rally.

YEN.. Offers at 90.60 remain but above 90.70 now can see 91.10 tested. Stops at 91.20 targets 91.80 zone. More stops at 91.90 expected. Support at 89.60 and then 89.10/20 but below 89.00 can see a sharp decline to 88.00 area.
