I see many of you are satisfied with CMS.
I use CMS for my Live Forex Trading just for 2 weeks and I am not satisfied with them at all. Just yesterday alone, I got disconnected from their server 6 times. This happened quite often.

Honestly, I trade with CMS live now for 8 months, and I have been disconnected from their server during trading only once. And the cause of this was something with my wireless ADSL-modem, which I had to reset. After that, no problems at all.

But I can imagine that you are dissatisfied when a disconnection happens to you, especially in these volatile markets.
Sorry to hear that.

It is possible that internet connection maybe the cause of the disconnecting from their server. However, I doubt that it was the reason.
I have DSL and Cable Hi-speed as a failover. Also, when it happened, I was trading Stocks though Tradestation without any disconnection.
Also, CMS Dealing desk confirmed that they were having a problem and asked me to call their NY office to put orders manually.

It maybe a unfortunate thing that happened to me at the time. In anycase, I am checking out other brokerage firms. So far, I liked what I read about Oanda's, but I don't like their limited indicators. I like Tradestation's chart service, but since I am doing more Forex trading than Equity trading these days, I don't want to pay $100.00/month for the charting service to trade Forex.

I have an account with OandA. But as someone else mentioned, the charting package is somewhat poor. So I figured I would open an account with CMS about a year ago for $250. Be on the live account server and use them as a charting and data provider. Look like a deal to me.

The past six months. I have put more money into that account and I now use it to trade. I have had no major problems. The software package is better than some you would pay for the indicator builder is fantastic.

The trading system builder still has many features to be added, but can be used for signal. I would not leave it on autopilot, while I am not around.

But they are continuously upgrading this product, which is encouraging.

If anyone has this charting package and would like indicators for it. You can, PM me. I have hundreds of them programmed. I might have what you are looking for.

A truly wise man, always has more questions than answers.

It is just me or anyone else had problem with CMS today.
Right before NonFarm Payroll announcement, I got disconnected again. Now it's been 20 min. and can't connect. Their website is down also as well.
No one answer the phone. Unreal! It's like I am dreaming.

You're right, I can't get in either. Lately I've noticed that these kinds of connection problems occur more frequently than they used to. Maybe they're in the midst of changing some hardware and/or software over there.

I wonder what time they went down ? I am usually a supporter of cms but this seems to be more than a coincidence. Why now in front of big news announcements that are usually volatile? Could it be that they had taken some poor positions and didnt want to be trading them?

Feeling a bit sarcastic.

Lou, i was thinking the same thing too. but wanted to give them the benefit of doubt. Are you even able to access their website? It gives me the creeps to think people will do whatever it takes to manage their risks. It makes me wonder if there are any true ethical brokers out there.

Just returned home from my job, to find both the live server and the website of CMS inaccessible.

Jee, this is the first time I encounter this situation with CMS, and according to the postings here, I can see that this situation already lasts several hours. A broken server isn't that difficult to fix, I would say???

What's going here?? You guys really think CMS shut down its server to protect their interests??? Seems far-fetched to me. Anyone contacted CMS? What is their explanation?

I didn't ask any other questions...

Cmsfx is back up now but my charts have a gap from 5:35:23 to 14:37:22 est. I thought it was a gap (window for you candle fans out there) and about freaked until I saw the time line. If somebody with a live account would call them and get an explanation it would be cool.

My CMS trading platform went down on 1/6 also just before the NFP announcement. I don't understand why they even bother to be in
business if they can't make the necessary investment in their servers
to be more efficient. I am totally fed up with them. I'm scouting
around for a more reliable broker.

The gap is even worse, from 5h35 to 15h37 EST.
In a 1-minute chart, the first candle of the day at 15h37 ranges from 1,2138 (open and low) to 1,2178 (close and high). The candle at 15h38 ranges from 1,2181 (open and high) to 1,2155 (close and low). All the price action of a whole day compressed in two minutes.

I have filed an official complaint. One entry order of mine has been filled, but the limit order has not been closed by CMS, although I can see in all charts around the web, that the price has moved around my limit rate for at least six minutes. Under normal conditions, this order would have been closed.
I urged CMS to correct this.
Let's wait and see what they come up with.....

Hi all -

I did trade on live account when their server went down. They accually went down around 4:00am EST. I had just put 5 lots- market sell order and stop loss order. It gained about 10 pip in my favor within 3-5 min. I felt that it would be wise to get out, so I put a order to close the position. Just as I push the button, my screen freezed up. First I thought my PC, but it wasn't.
I always have 2 PCs up and 2 Internet Provider as a fail over when I trade, just incase my Internet service goes down or one of my PC fails.
However, like someone mentioned, it wasn't my internet, nor my PC.
I checked their website and it was down also.
I called CMS and they weren't answering the phone for quiet a while. This is going on for about 20 min. By this time, price is up already passed my stoploss. I knew that I should have been stopped out. (At this point, I was starting worried, because I wasn't sure if their server to Interbank Market was also down or not. If it was down, I wasn't sure how long ago... Before I put stop order or after???) I have tried to call to next 45 min. and finally got hold of someone, but he couldn't help, so he transfer me to Dealing Desk. Surprise! Surprise! They ACCIDENTLY lost my phone connection. I called again and go through this again, this time, again, they ACCIDENTLY transfer me to someone in the customer serice's voice mail. Again, I called. Now I have someone from Dealing Desk "live person", but he doesn't speak english very well. What I could understand from him was that everything is down and he can not check my account to see if my stop loss order has been executed or not. So, I asked him if their connection to Interbank Market was down also, but he put me on hold and did not come back on line to give me an answer.
I called again, this time, I got someone who can speak English and he said everything is down and nothing they can do at the moment, but he can take a verbal order from me. I explained my situation and he took a manual order over the phone, but he couldn't give me any reference# or anything to insure our conversation. He gave me his name as a reference.
Well, I was up until 9:00am and server never came back up. After I slept (I was up all night) for a few hours and check again, I was able to get in. I don't know exactly when the server came back up. (I got stopped out at my stoploss set. I am not sure if they did manually executed or my order was automatically executed, but it doesn't matter.) I had chance to make money because of this. On Monday, I am going to close my account with them. It happened to me too many times. I can aford to take any more chances like this. If we can't make money on volatility, when can we make money? Last Friday's move, anyone could have make money because just this one pair (GBP/USD) moved well over 100+ pips. Wild ride. Even if you didn't get in right at the beginning, you still would have gain at least quick 50+ pips. All I could was watch the price going up and up on other brokerage's demo account because my CMS Live account was DOWN!

Did you file a complaint with CMS, or are you so fed up with them that you even won't bother..?

I am going to call them on first thing tomorrow morning and file a complaint. I don't know if it will make any difference. Whatever outcome of my conversation is, I am going to close the account. Since I opened my live account in Dec, disconnection to their server during the volatile time happened 3 times. First 2 times were about 20 - 30 min. downtime, not like this last Friday, but it was bad enough. This goes to show you that you have to put a hard stop to protect your position. Just having a "mental stop" won't help. Anyone decided to leave their account with CMS, good luck to you all. I have a feeling that this won't the the last time.

I've also noticed that disruptions have increased lately, especially at important times such as last Friday. I've sent them an email requesting an explanation and also to find out what if any corrective steps are being taken to rectify the problem. Depending on their answer, I will also consider switching brokers.
