DislikedOh boy!
I have tried so many filters and fixes all to no avail but thank you cgldsmth for suggesting a 200SMA test!
With this modification, last nights trade was not taken and a number of other trades have been rejected but the number of losing trades is drastically reduced!
I will also check it out on forex.com permanent GMT brokers.
Here is my 12 month chart using Alpari and full report attached!Ignored
DislikedHello Geoffb65,
Thanks for all the help you have been giving us here. I apprecate it.
I have an idea that I would like us to try....., it is simple. Could you make an EA that always buys when candle closes above 62EMA and always sells when candle closes below 62 EMA. Exit of a trade is when candle closes on the opposite side of the EMA (a new trade is always entered when a trade closes). There could be an option of changing the moving average and setting a hard stop loss and a take profit.
I wait to hear from you.
Thanks.Ignored
DislikedHere are the best results that I have been able to get from the EA using the optimisation tool in the tester.
TP1 22, TP2 50, SL 140, TSL 22, fast_sma 10, slow_sma 197.
I have decided to post it as v7 as it is quite different from previous issues.
Using the optimizer the Slow SMA came out at 197, strange but true!Ignored
DislikedThat is truly impressive! 1 year of back testing, in a rough 2009 market, with that level of success? Holy smokesIgnored
DislikedOutstanding! Is this for the past 12 months?
Could you let us know with which broker you did that test? Was it Forex.com?
Could someone make the same test (same settings) with Alpari and IBFX please? I would try it with IBFX but it normally takes ages until I see any results and often I get error messages and no results at all.
Thanks so much geoff and others who help to optimize this great EA!!!Ignored

DislikedHello Geoffb65,
You do not have to do it now, please. May be over the weekend when things are slow. The 200 SMA or 62 EMA are very good filters and the method I propose will work great on anyone of them.
The gist of it's success is that you do not have to make a lot of trades and it catches those big moves like 100, 200 or even 300 pips. One does not have to worry about whipshaw when the market is horizontal, the loses or draw-down are very minute (very little) compared to the big pips made in profit.
ThanksIgnored
Dislikedthanks geoff. i have downloaded the EA
To trade manually, what i need to do ? i set up fast sma 10, slow sma 197 on H1 chart. at 23:00 GMT, what should i look ? both sma should have same direction? both should be above the current bar to go short ? what happens if one is up , one down ?Ignored

must find a hedge to that.. coz it was so evident they wld be sell off in cable.. it's funny that robots all the time go in wrong direction..and then try to grab back some pips...Ignored

DislikedI hedged those trades manually to prevent huge losses.
I'm playing with v7 now, which has excellent backtraces. Though I'm a bit scared with the setting risk percent set to 10. Is that supposed that way?Ignored
