Triangle should be done at ~1.3180, but longing does not seem tempting right now.

€ seems to lack any momentum upside....for now.

Buying from here 1.3180 or better.. Creating my Net of Long orders

EURO-DOLLAR: Despite overextended euro short positioning (Friday's CFTC
data show spec euro shorts at record -89013 contracts), market players
remain bearish and look to sell euro rallies. Offering a very big
picture view, Jerry Ficchi of Brown Brothers Harriman takes a look at
the monthly chart, where "last month's bounce from trendline support
(derived from 2002 and 2009 lows) suggests that "the trend of high
troughs remains intact." The euro is nearing the downside parameter
($1.3100 support/resistance at $1.4875) of a "longer-term consolidation
pattern. Ficchi is keeping a close eye on the 20-month moving average
at $1.3720, a level the euro needs to vault to maintain upward momentum.
"The failure to reclaim this level by the euro foretells of an eventual
break of trendline support at $1.3100 enroute to $1.2700 (100-month
moving average and trendline from 2005 and 2008 lows)," he says.

malcolmb, I understand what you're saying, but in my experience it's always the "safer" trade to look for resumption rather than looking for reversal. Like now, for instance. Your 400 pips is in the realm of possibility - I'm not saying that it's not - but why not entertain the view that the downward trend on this pair is going to continue...until it doesn't? Despite all of the intervention, this pair has been reliably giving up the short pips since December. I myself have taken a few scalps long during pullbacks, but they have been short-lived compared to my shorts.

When I first started trading spot, I attempted to apply volume-based analysis to the market - techniques that are still quite successful with other markets. But my ultimate conclusion was that with spot, the volume data was far more limited, and it was often better to use pure PA techniques. The volume data with spot, no matter how "clean", fails to allow discernment of "why"...you can get what essentially amounts to tick volume, but nothing regarding contract size. With all due respect to students and practioners of VSA, my theory of why VSA does work, given that it is essentially based on tick volume in spot, is that tick volume often is highest around points that serve as support or resistance - so it is essentially just another method to make such points stand out on the chart. VSA also does not discern between intervention and speculation - it leaves alot open for subjective context. I'm not trying to slam VSA - clearly there are pips to be made with the technique - but I'm just pointing out the limitations that exist as with any system and/or technique.

i dont have my charts atm.. but cliff for usdx and and eux H/L last week was the edge.. cliff is probably lower then last weeks low on eu.. but when eux and usdx break those levels we may free fall.. those levels are very important.. we will spring up from them in a bounce or free-fall.. they are extremily important levels.
3161 + slip-bounce .... bounce may be a good short. . i would not long until those levels of last week are met. with tight sl.. central banks are lurking..

based on normal pa.. there is always exceptions.
