Kind of interesting on how you can receive additional money from the goverment in Greece:

- Being an unmarried daugther of deceased parents in the public sector - annual costs: 550 Mio Euros for this alone

In the public sector itelf you will get additional money for:
- Knowing how to operate a computer
- Knowing a foreign language
- Punctuality!
- Working in the open air for those working in forestry or what's left of it after the forest fires last Summer.

(Source: the German equivalent to the BBC - ARD, so not a source that is any famous for making facts up at all)

Somebody on here yesterday was talking about Canada. They said Canada was in financial trouble but the word wasn't out yet. Mal you are in best position to assess this comment. You think there is some truth tho this?

The issue I see in Canada is debt ... not really Government debt as we are very resource rich. I am talking personal debt.

In Vancouver average Joe is buying house that are 650 to 900 k ... on 4000 sqft lots...so there is only 200 to 250 k value in the land. I can build a house for 140 per sqft , so a 2500 sqft house on a 4000 sqft lot should be only be 500k MAX.

So most home buyers here are paying 150 to 400 k over value.

I bought a house and sold it in 18 months for 80% gain pretty insane , almost at the peak in 2008 , then houses prices on higher end home dropped 25% in 6 months and now we are back to the 2008 peak again ( double top). Then bought a cheap town home to weather out the coming storm and will buy my house back again for 50 % less than I sold it for ( the ultimate trader) . Most here do not think the housing market will slump and that it will go on forever , but when 75% of income goes on your house something has to give.

I think this is where Canada's issues are going to come from as interest rates rise ... is the foreclosures will hit the banks hard.

Truthfully, it must first be approved by each government of the 15 eurozone other members. Germany has been the strongest opponent to the bail-out, but its Economy Minister Rainer Bruederle said there was a "good chance" of getting German parliamentary agreement by next Friday.

So the EU and IMF have approved a 110bn-euro (£95bn; $146.2bn) three-year bail-out package, but now it must be vetoed by the other eurozone members.

What's up Malcomb? Yeah, it was me. I was over on the Auslanco thread because a poster said the following: "Lots of reasons for that: commodity currency, soundness of banking sector, sane real estate prices, and no occurring/predictable bubbles, certainly compared to the rest of the world."

I had to weigh in once I saw that. From what I have read, RBC, TD, and CIBC are exposed, but RBC is the worst. I may have to do some digging to find the information again. And as far as real estate, don't even get me started. Saskatchewan has seen outrageous house appreciation and it's literally the middle of nowhere.

smells like "non kiss sex" to me. to join citizens voted on certain criteria. this criteria did not include provisions for bailouts. so the voters were defrauded. there still may be court challenges. each of the 16 may face this. taxation without representation is a big deal in my corner of the world. but i don't live there. i just want it over one way or the other.

Yeah wtf .. same with Winnipeg . I lived there 3 years and it is the worst place I have been in the world. Winnipegers love it but the sane people cannot wait to get the hell out of there. ' Great fishing ' they say .. yeah right they have obviously never hooked a 30 lb salmon on a fly line. ' nice blue sky in Winter' yeah right go outside and die of exposure in 5 min if you are not dressed for artic conditions. ' wonderful hot summers ' yeah if you can beat of the birds .. opps sorry no I forgot that was mosquitoes.

Yet come to Winnipeg houses are cheap here only 500 k ...lol..

Housing in Canada is one big fat bubble just waiting to burst.

I keep on telling my mates that are buying for 600 to 700 k to rent but they do not listen . I tell them do not worry I will buy your house in foreclosure for 400 k and rent it back to you for 20 % less than market value rent as I know you will be a bankrupt SOB ..lol.... and now I wonder why I have no friends !!!

Unfortunately this is just the beginning! Spain, Italy, Ireland or Portugal, maybe even the UK! Take your pick on who will be next.

Voters being defrauded might be litegation terrority where you live, but ask any Italian about being defrauded... Oh yes and they change the laws there so that it doesn't have a legal leg to stand on! Berlusconi is the biggest defraudster in Europe!

Europe is a very different animal to the US, probably because of the huge variety of different cultures flying different flags that are being banded as one.

good evening.

from what i read, 110 billion euro are agreed on over the next ten years.

greece sacrifices include:

- working time increased from 37 to 40 years, before the highest pension-level can be achieved
- higher taxes, lower wages
- 13th&14th monthly income is cancelled for those earning more than 3000 euros or getting a pension higher than 2500 euros
- vat is increased once more from 21% to 23%
and so on, and so on...

*L* i got some Sicilian blood in my veins (lower half). so its safe to say, some Greek also. Horney people in boats tend to enslave other cultures (Rape the women). Although it pisses some off. If you got European in your veins then you got Roman blood also. Romes in Italy.. so you got Italian blood in you. then you got Hannibal and the Norsemen to mix in there too. Contrary to popular belief Cleopatra was brown. (not milky white like Liz Taylor)
