Tonights trade may be difficult to call.

Let's see what the EA makes of it!

We are close to thursdays high and we have a fairly neutral
pennant forming with just 2 hours to go to the Tokyo open.

this this spirit i am going to help you to help yourself, i suggest you trial and error the EA until you have worked it out for yourself, the sense of achievement will be huge when you find the answer for yourself.

In fact why not start like this: check what the current candle is, and see how that is offset to your local time......

I understand it but Alpari UK timezone is discussed here several times, I think those are not right so I want to make it clear.

In Expert Advisor/Properties/Inputs it shows "fast_ema with a value of 10. Should that be sma?? Also, is the sma 10 line not displayed on the chart? Is it okay to manually add one to the chart myself, or should I not add anything?

I haven't used an EA before. After it's all set up, do I enter a trade in the direction of the trend as I see it, or does the EA select the trend and enter the trade?

I agree... Geoff - looking at the candle charts you are posting my broker (GoMarkets) has exactly the same candles on exactly the same timeframes - but GoMarkets is GMT +2 !

then you need to establish for yourself what the offset with alpari is, as i said before, do this: check what time you have on the candle, compare to what time it is gmt, then you will ahve your answer.

the thing is it is not really relevant what is going on with anyone else alpari connection, what is relevant is what YOUR connection is telling you. you are assuming that everyone else is attached to t8he same server, this is not necessarily so.

Hi mary4x

Yes, it should say sma, I was going to use ema originally but found that it worked better with sma.

You can certainly add a 10 SMA indicator to your chart, it will not interfere with the EA at all.

The EA will place the order but you must keep your computer switched on because the EA also manages the trade from begining to end.

The EA closes the order at TP (or SL) and adjusts the trailing stoploss on the second order until that is finished.

The $35 vps at forexvps.com works ok if you have say a couple of charts and 1 or 2 robots at the most, also keep the number of indicators to a minimum otherwise it will slow down abismally!

I switched to the $75 version quite early on and so far I haven't found any limitations at all.

They are a good company with very good support!

Why do you think it is not relevant? I and Geoff use the same broker, the result will be different if the different timezone is used.
add: I understand I should check the candle, but even if I set the right timezone, I would not get the right result if the program does
not handle it correctly.

It's easy. Geoff simply explained it in this thread.
Start time is always 0 no matter who you use for your broker. GMT offset is all that needs to be modified. If your broker is GMT +1 such as Alpari or TDFX, just put a one in the box for GMT offset. For Gomarkets, once again leave start time at 0. (This is the start of the Asian session.) However for Gomarkets, put a 2 in the box for GMT offset. If your broker was GMT-19, leave the start time as 0 and put -19 in the GMT offset box. That's all that is required.

Its easy really, put the clock indicator on your chart. You'll find in this thread.

Whatever the difference is between GMT and broker, this is your GMT Offset

Leave start time as 0

Geoff, thanks for the great work, here are a couple of programming ideas:
-- to be able extern bool value 'Show_Settings' work, we should extend CheckForCross() function as follows:

if ( Show_Settings )
PrintDetails();
else
Comment("");

otherwise, if 'Show_Settings' turned off, actually nothing happens.

-- little curious about the idea to generate magic number. if you use the same algorithm in different ea and in the same pair, should it generate the same magic #? it's the same as generating a pseudo random value - after generating, a special func should be ran to check with the existing values to make sure a new one is not repeating any of already existing ones...

Thanks for a very promising EA. Profit last 12 months are very good (IBFX and Alpari).
I have backtested it from 2000-04-14 until today and only the last 12 months have ggod result. Maybee my datafeed (IBFX) is not so good when its older than 12 monhts.
Anyone have a good backtest result for more than the last 12 months?
