I agree, 15 pips SL is a culmination of ignorance. I prefer 3 pips SL maximum, taking 50-100 of pips profit minimum.

I agree with you and MACDoug, and for another reason also. An edge can come only from exploiting known vagaries of market behavior; basing decisions on things like recent trading performance, or the floating P/L on current trades, has no basis other than personal comfort.

I leave in the same country where you leave in the netherlands.
I dont thing you have to move to an 3rd world country to make a living from 10k i thing ones you are profitable from 10k you will make 10% monthly its nice moneye and than you have 11k and you make from this 11k is 10% 1100 euros that means that your account will grow . and you can save more and more but you must trade very conervative to be consistently.
I m a newbie and this is my idea about trading.

Well, if newbies makes 10% out of market a month, its time to exit the business
To trade for a living in western europe you need at least 250k euro and hopefully in your country you can choose to pay the taxes at the end of the year, to profit accordingly from the compound interest.

10k are a very good joke in Netherlands.

Are you splitting the 'fund' in two, where the trader withdraws a part per month and the other part he can compound?

So most of your trades get stopped out and your good ones break even? I don't see how you don't lose big money over time with such little market leeway and high expectations.

If so, please explain to everyone here at which point I left out the notion of risk ?

Secondly, your capitalization should not depend on our guess about the length of any unknown winning or losing steak, but your trade risk should depend on your capitalization.

Further to that, the trading model (anyone chooses to adopt) should take into account trade characteristics that could be adverse to trading small accounts (I am sure I don't need to explain that to a professional like yourself).

I wouldn't split that amount and I wouldn't withdraw monthly. For living I'd prefer to have another 50k which are enough for 1-2 years.

You make 10%, turning 10k into 11k. Now you must pay rent, food, utilities etc. The only way you'll make a living off 10k (and grow it over time) making just 10% per month is to have no expenses.

Trade conservatively? More like the opposite - you'll have to trade aggressively.

You don't "need at least..." anything. What is needed varies massively depending on personal situation and skill. When you said 250k is needed, what you really meant was that you need 250k, and you think others need 250k.
