Yes, It is possible to go full time trading and live comfortably with it. There are techniques that work very well. Just control and money manage it well enough and you are set.

I think persuing a career is more interesting and it keeps one more happy because you go to office everyday, mix with office friends, attend office parties, rise in career/salary.

I get depressed trading all alone in front of my PC for so many hrs everyday.

So, i am thinking to study hard, complete my professional exams and start a career.

Necro'ing an old thread here!

China is awesome, I spend 1/3rd of my life there. I work in finance, though I trade as a second income. One day when my trading income surpasses my job, I'd look to quit my job and trade full time.

I use ETX Capital as my broker, and it does work in China although the signal is a bit laggy. I trade the dailys and 4h charts so it's not too bad. I'm not too sure of tax implications... I dont submit any tax returns for trading.

As my lawyer friends tell me - Ignorance of the law is not a defence.

Either way. It can be done.

LT.

You probably haven't hold a real job as an employee yet. I am just guessing.

There are pros and then there are also cons.

Took your advice and currently 3 yrs later am in professional school, pursuing a meaningful career and still keeping my goal of keeping FX as supplemental income.
No doubt career gives you more satisfaction for the reasons you mentioned and many more.

Well, I wished I'd found that Nirvana of "happy employee life" that I think most of you are looking for.

To each his own, I guess.

I've worked for more than 15 years in a high pressure trading floor environment (office politics included).

Now that I've left, I don't think I ever wanna go back! LOL
I'm not trying to convince anyone. I'm not in the "convincing" business.

All the success to you but just remember there are VERY FEW friends in office because they all want the same thing as you, rise in career/salary and there is only ONE manager position available.

That's why I like trading better. Nobody to compete with me and if I am good in trading, the market rewards me with $$ and me only.

You should be mentally stable to consider forex trading as the only source of income, especially if you have family or something like that it will greatly affect your trading results in negative way because of the feeling you must earn to make off living. Its great psychological pressure which is not recommended to experience by non-professional traders.

Well whenever you are doing something to make a living, you will ALWAYS be under great psychological pressure regardless of what you do simply because people are giving you money for what you provide and nobody's money grows on trees so whenever you need to pursuade somebody to part with their money, you always have to do something extra and have stress, that's a given.

Have a happy, stress-free new year!!

That is a different type of stress. Some types of stress are healthy whilst others are not. Employees have to sell themselves only once in a while. They are not likely to run risk of taking monetary hit for every momentary oversight or inattention.

It can be done, the stress level depends on the size of your capital, if you have a capital big enough you can potentially just make a day trade every few months and enjoy life without stress.

If you are undercapitalized good luck

Well depending on what kind of a boss and/or colleagues that you are working with, working for others can be VERY stressful if you have a micro-managing boss that watches over your shoulder for every single thing that you do and/or a conniving, selfish, kiss-ass co-worker that makes you do everything and then take your work to go kiss your boss' ass and then stab you behind your back. And at the same time, nothing that you do tolerates oversight or inattention. So if you have to be careful and pay attention at all times anyway, between dealing with micro-managing mediocre boss and/or conniving, back-stabbing co-workers and trading, I will take trading any time!

Right, but typically, it is easier to change bosses (find another job) than to advance to the point of being able to live off trading.
