Can a coder please look at geoffb's V2 to see if you can figure out why backtesting it opens 2 orders just fine. But with live trading only opens 1?

Otherwise V2 works fine for me since v3 and v4 won't even backtest for me.

Well, the fact is that people don't get the same results on LIVE accounts as when they backtest strategy. This is mostly because they are using inaccurate (aggregated) data when backtesting. In my opinion such tests are worthless...

Also, you can't get accurate data from your broker's archive simply by scrolling the chart in MetaTrader. To get some numbers into discussion,...

V3 & V4 are basically the same code as V2 apart from the addition of M15 fractals to the trend determination and one order removed from V4.

So I don't see why V3 & V4 should not work.

Like a few others in this thread, I am not that great at manual trading especially when it comes to speed. I would much rather have an EA handle simple systems while I take care of the more discretionary methods. That said, I think this EA shows promise.

I've been running some backtests with geoff's v4 EA and the dukascopy data. My results are almost identical to piotrek's. Certain configurations scare me (and my account) while one or two seem decent.

As others have mentioned, the SL is quite large and a few losing trades can wipe out a previous week's good trades. However, the win ratio is quite respectable. Ideally, we could check how low some ultimately winning trades swing into the negative before becoming profitable. With this data, it should be easier to calculate min/max values for the sl and tp. I would be pretty nervous trading this system live with its current R:R ratio

I'd like to specifically thank geoff for this system, steve for his coding efforts and piotrek for showing us how to use dukascopy's more reliable data
I have put V4 on MT4Live to monitor its performance.

v3 on alpari live took 2 trades this night. One closed in profit and the other is still open with an impossible to reach take profit. I guess I'll close it manually.

These are using the default values.

Unfortunately the trailing stoploss spoiled a good trade last night! LOL!

Note:
Only the last result is from this EA v4
the first 10 results are from another EA.

The trailing stoploss should protect it!
Last night v4 placed the order correctly according to the rules, the SMA was sloping upwards so the EA placed a buy order.

We had to wait for it but the price eventually moved into profit with the London session and would have reached our TP if the trailing stoploss had not stopped us out with a meagre couple of pips.

many thanks for the EA's, on demo had a nice 19 pip (1st part) and 32 pip (2nd part) win today using V3.

although more by luck than judgement as i added an extra 0 to the inputs so the TP, SL and TSL were miles wrong... i closed and added a trail manually...

sigh...

hope for some more of the same with the correct inputs from tonight..

2 quick questions, if i ahve the MM set to true do i have to set one of the risks to true as well or leave them as false... and can you just explain the risk settings please (low up to v high)??

Normally I would say if you set the MM to true you must also select on of the risk levels as well.

However, the levels that are built into the EA have not been calculated for this EA so, for now, it would be better to use the manual lot size setting.
