Secrets for Profiting in Bull and Bear Markets by Stein Weinstein, very good book and all that you will ever need if you have discipline and patience.

It's a compliment that you would take my recommendation, but I feel I have to follow up with a note to manage your expectations! I found it an excellent read but others might take a different view. And if you're looking for a trading system in a book, then this is not it, which is not to say that there aren't tools and wisdom within it that could not profoundly influence your approach to the markets.

Fooled by randomness is nothing but pretentious talk. You want a useful book about forex, read "how to beat the forex dealer" by agustin silvani.

I have that book, it's old school but it's good overview of markets and very much relative today.

Way of The Turtle & Trade Your Way To Financial Freedom are my favourite two.

Bird Watching In Lion Country is also pretty good.

Bird Watching in Lion Country sounds like a marketing scam or disinformation. If you want to read a book by a real trader read "Pit Bull" by Marty Schwartz. Just as not every thread in a forum is designed to help you succeed, not every book is either.

Wow. Looking over the many books on trading that I own...almost completely worthless crap. Very few that are worth keeping. I think that I'll give them to the library to free up space. The one that cracks me up is one of the first that I ever bought - the manual that came as a part of the Ken Roberts course. My hat's off to you sir! Snake oil at its finest!

Check out John Carter's "Mastering the Trade." It's a wealth of information.

"Forex Conquered" isn't bad either, by Person.

"Dad's Legacy" is another good one.

I read quite a few books on trading, I liked the wizard books and also Reminiscence of a Stock Operator, the rest were a waste.

Warrior Trading by Clifford Bennett.

You will either love it or hate it, I loved it and in my honest opinion this book rivals Van Tharp's Trade your way to financial freedom.

He talks in analogies a lot and this makes you really think about the markets and not just price and charts.

I believe everyone should read this book, it is without a doubt one of the best forex books out there.

Not purely a trading book, but describes the process of tuning into and focusing on the moment without concern about the past or worry about the future.

I suggest you don't judge a book by its cover only and also not an ebook by its "sales letter".


Xaron, who first mentioned Bird Watching in Lion Country in this thread has based his success as winner of the Forex Street Trader of the Year contest in 2009 solely on Bird Watching in Lion Country (although he was at the time of the competition also a mentoring client of the author.)

I found another worthwhile title in my library that I thought I'd share. "The Ruminator - A Collection of Thoughts and Suggestions on Contrary Thinking" by Humphrey Neill. In my view, it's a good book with a lot of good information that can be used in the markets... I hope some of these titles can help; I've tried to share some titles which have helped me personally, and I know are not simply amateurish trash.

definitely, van tharpe "trading your way to financial freedom". it gives a simple probabilty based approach as to how to look at the market. especially the example in the book on probabilty and pulling colored marbles from a bag. keep it simple let your winners be larger than your losers thats how i found my success.

"An Arbitrage Guide to Financial Markets" by Robert Dubil

This is a broad overview of how arbitrage is used in the spot, forwards, and options markets. In the same vein as Harris' "Trading and Exchanges" but shorter, more didactic. A useful read for the newbie trader.

It's not that much.
Everybody learns in different ways. If you don't have any other way to learn books are great. Until you get into specific strategies, they all say the same thing. Know what you are going to do before you place a trade. Know why you are trading a specific currency pair, when to enter, where to set a stop, and how much profit to go for. If you don't know exactly what you are doing, the market will take your money.
