Price and Time don't change when the chart is zoomed. I have never seen that one could change the price of a security or increase the strength of a trend by simply zooming the chart. If such voodoo were possible then many of us would be multi-millionaires already.

Listen carefully, I'll try to explain this as easy as I can;

xy (500,500) doesn't change on your monitor, ONLY when you change the RESOLUTION OF THE PIXELS THEMSELVES!! ie. go to 800x600 etc. Then the "location" on the monitor changes. IRREGARDLESS of what window you have underneath that coordinate.

It's the same in the metatrader window.

So, your saying, if you change the scale on the price side of the window, you would get more pixels in your window w/out changing the size of the window. That's not correct.

Price and time may not change by zooming in and out, but the SCALE OF PRICE will.

Since when has the resolution of the monitor or the size of the window any influence on the trading?

I thought you wanted to calculate the strength of trends and the "angle" of moving averages? These pixel angles of your moving averages change everytime you zoom the chart.

This thread has started because you wanted to get coordinates of chart objects and told me you wanted to calculate the gradient or slope of lines in the chart, derived from moving average or other indicator values or some arrows (and the gradient of these lines is measured by price/time and not some pixel angles on some monitor) and now suddenly you want to make an indicator to calculate the window diagonal and trend-lines and price and indicator values have suddenly become irrelevant?

it's not clear on your code, what is your first and second point. and you incorrectly access angle property using GetValueByShift. it should be ObjectGet(ObjectName,OBJPROP_ANGLE).


here is how i get line angle in pixel coordinate. the code rely solely on how MT4 calculated the angle of a trendbyangle object. from technical / programming aspect, it's not that difficult. but when it comes to using it on trading... .

I did something ALMOST exactly like this, the ONLY difference I had was that I didn't have the Moving average declared as one of the buffers. That may be why mine didn't work.

Well, I just realized that I was talking strictly xy coordinates and forgot about the underlying window was the reason.

Thanks, the only thing is that I don't need the MA as a buffer, I need the angle as the buffer (what you've got as OBJ_LABEL).
