I am still using this technique on the 5 and 15min timeframe. I am still using the original technique as described in post #1
Find a trend and milk it for all it is worth. That's how to be profitable

I have been following the Grant method for some time and would like to throw in this :-

I have noticed that if we use the 4Hour CCI(20) for confirmation of the setup this improves the results.

Basically to confirm a BUY then the 4H CCI(20) needs to be above zero and pointing up. To confirm a SELL then the 4H CCI(20) needs to be below zero and pointing down.

From my backtesting this cuts out many of the losing and BE trades. It has cut out a few winners but the results have improved overall.

This is all based on the way I trade Grants method, which is basically the same with the exception of I do not use a buffer at all.

The 4H CCI(20) has made the following difference to Jan and Feb results

Without the CCI confirmation....
22 trades, 3 wins, 10 losers, 9 BEs .... Total 75 pips profit

With the CCI confirmation....
5 trades, 3 wins, 1 losers, 1 BEs .... Total 210 pips profit

I have checked back through 2009 and it appears to improve the results throughout the year however I have not got accurate numbers yet.

I would appreciate anyones thoughts on this.

Hi Wildwood,

thanks very much for the detailed effort you have gone to...

i will have a look at the cci filter over the weekend hopefully and let you know but if it helps eliminate losses and makes the method more profitable then it can only be good...

many thanks again for your efforts

Hi WW ! Could you plz a bit explain your rules for cci use ? For instance - at the 4h chart: Crossing the +100 cci-line down = down trend - only sells at the bottom line of the box ? Is that right ?
