DislikedSomeone feel free to correct me if I am wrong. Basically to trade in Forex you require sums in the 100,000's to take a position. For the average Joe to trade you have to borrow. a 1:100 ratio means that the broker will want to have $100 in your account for ever $1 position you have on the movement of the currency. There is probably a lot more to it, a hell of a lot more.Ignored

but in laymans terms
100:1 = Quite Extreme, but ok for a hardcore emotionless scalper
200:1 = manageable gambling
400:1 = Chronic Gambling and would most likely end in a MC
If your a beginner, focus on leverage levels such as 15:1 10:1 or even 5:1
I personally employ 25:1 leverage but with very tight sl's ... so I must rely on some form of precision when placing a trade.
The more leverage employed, the less capital you "put down" to make a trade.
Subsequently this allows you to place larger trades.
