With respect to the German's competence in such matters, I have a little story to tell. On Friday evening a workmate called and we discussed summer holiday. NEW YORK (Dow Jones)--The euro will continue to surrender ground to the dollar in the coming week, as lingering concerns over fiscally stressed Greece contrast with a U.S. economy that is chugging forward.

Investors will pay close attention to whether E.U. member nations--euro-zone countries in particular--develop more solid plans to address Greek finances after this week's E.U. statement of support, with few details, failed to undergird a shaky euro.

Several Federal Reserve speakers will also take center stage week, with investors listening closely for any clues on when the U.S. might increase the ultra-low interest rates that weigh on the greenback.

"The market is going to look at economic growth," said Robert Tull, vice president and managing director of foreign exchange and commodity derivatives at Fifth Third Bancorp in Cincinnati. Investors are asking "who's going to be able to pull out of this global downturn first, and I believe cautiously, the U.S. is the frontrunner" among major economies, he said.

Slowing economic growth in the euro zone, along with the festering sovereign-debt issues in Greece that threaten to spread Portugal and Spain, suggest the European Central Bank will keep key interest rates low.

"The Federal Reserve appears likely to raise interest rates before the Bank of England, the ECB and the Bank of Japan," said Marc Chandler, global head of foreign exchange at Brown Brothers Harriman in New York. "The U.S. economy appears to be emerging from the crisis more robustly than its peers," he said.

The Federal Open Market Committee releases on Wednesday the minutes from its January rate-setting meeting, during which Kansas City Fed President Thomas Hoenig dissented from the decision that left key interest rates low for an extended period. Hoenig has since reiterated that he wants Fed language to be more flexible, not that he wants rates to rise immediately.

Investors will parse the minutes for any indication of an eventual tightening of the current ultra-loose monetary policy intended to stimulate economic growth.

U.S. markets will be closed on Monday for Presidents Day, and Chinese markets will be closed throughout the week for Lunar New Year celebrations. Traders could take advantage of light holiday liquidity to push the euro down even further, Tull said.

Friday afternoon, the euro was at $1.3619 from $1.3684 late Thursday, according to EBS via CQG. The dollar was at Y90.01 from Y89.73, while the euro was at Y122.57 from Y122.79. The U.K. pound was at $1.5678 from $1.5692. The dollar was at CH1.0770 from CHF1.0768.

The ICE Dollar Index, which tracks the greenback against a trade-weighted basket of currencies, was at 80.311 from 80.021.

E.U. finance ministers are due to hold their regular monthly meeting on Monday and Tuesday, when several E.U. diplomats said further contingency plans for Greece would be discussed.

The euro dropped to a near nine-month low overnight Friday as the disappointing euro-zone growth data and an announcement China would put additional brakes on growth added to the downward momentum of the currency triggered by the concerns over Greece.

Unless a more solid bailout plan emerges, which analysts said was unlikely, the common currency should trade between $1.34 and $1.3650. A sustained dip below $1.35 would open the door to a drop toward $1.28, according to a Brown Brothers Harriman technical analysis.

The dollar is likely to be trapped in a tight range against the yen, as the pair has been tracking investor sentiment, gaining slightly on positive sentiment and slipping slightly when the mood darkens.

The dollar should trade between Y88 and Y92, analysts said.

To gauge the pace of the U.S. recovery, investors will be paying attention to key data to be released in the coming week, including the producer price index on Thursday and the consumer price index on Friday, along with regional Fed manufacturing surveys released throughout the week.

No nothing wrong with that. I was just amazed at from how long people have been in positions. Saw some GJ shorts from 133 normally 80-100 pips and I am out for a loss or a profit. So dont really care about the talks of doom, gloom and boom here

in this chop last week and maybe in volatile conditions this week I have been looking to the 60 min for where buyers and sellers maybe hiding

right now clear buyers in the 1.3525 area and seems sellers in the 1.3640 zone

drop under 1,3595 ( low of that 60 min candle) i am selling
