hi kiwi, in my feed a short was triggered during the 8pm bar so it's a -45 loss here. i had the low in the 5:30 bar at 1.5658 and high at 7am bar at 1.5693. The short buffer (8 pips if I got it right) at 1.5650 was crossed at 800 bar, reached its lowest 1.5648 and then rebounded all the way back up to the top of the box.

Did I do anything wrong or is it the different feeds? Anyone else got my results today?

I went short on Skully hit SL for -40, then took the long & hit TP for +30, & should have stayed in a bit longer !

not good days for me too, on the mondays, I think i will work on variable entries depending previous range or fibo I think, I'll post some research soon

Hi UBP, Grant's method's results are with the thread's attachments (the fourth is 2010). Unfortunately Scull lost his results a few days ago, computer problems.

no u didnt do anything worng on this occasion i had some fibs set up so had my entry at 47 so was lucky to miss the short, with the news from the bank of England that was due at 10.30 Uk time i wanted to be extra cautious, i also had a wider buffer on the long postion too

Hi, thanks for posting this good trading plan here for us to learn. Perhaps having a better/tighter SL would increase the profitability of this trading plan. Since a good breakout usually is the one that goes well in the first place, my idea is to place SL above/below the high/low of the bar that breaks the band.

Box Breakout EA failed to move the SL to BE today, I may have to look in to the code and fix it...

same as yesterday for me no trade on grants and +30 on sculls to the short side 1.56082 was my entry still have 1 runner on sculls at half size intial trade currently +42 as i write

Hi

i dont mind at all.

intraday/medium term i trade regular no frills macd divergence on the 15 min, 1hr and 4 hr charts, scalping wise i have 2 commercial systems that i have taken certain pieces of and made a scalper strat that trades off the 5 min...

atm my goal is 10% per month on each as i have a full time job (shift work though lol) and more often than not i achieve these figures risking 0.5% per trade.

i'm not sure if i can mention the commercial systems openly on here so if someone can confirm i can i will post the names..

Two conclusions:

1) From a profit point of view, it seems almost never worth it to move the stop to BE.
2) The more TP you go for the better the % P/L.

But the question remains: how do various manner of BE stops affect DD?

from my backtests, it seems that grants original 75 tp and 25 be seem to work best at least when I test through the EA, doing 105TP probably would work better if trading manually.

I do not understand why all the people try to use EA?
this is the most simple strategy to trade manually. You do not have to sit near computer all day. If you want EA for backtests, you do not need it also all that was is history, I used different EA trying to trade breakouts but at the moment the best way for me is to use a single indicator and trailing stop manager. That is all. We do not want to trade manually, we say let the EA do all the job, but after two or three losing trades we say, no I would better help EA manually. It is not about EA it is about your emotions. By trading manually (for newbies), examining the charts you will find many interesting things, you will see more hidden ways to trade forex using breakouts, support/resistance trend lines breakouts. Try it. Here is what I use for grant's method:
Here you will find modified versions of indicator and trailing manager for grant method 5 digits brokers and also for 4 digits, but time of the box in 4 digits you should change by yourself.
