I've learned a lot about myself when I started out and am learning more about me everyday.
But I think the number one thing that has been a positive influence on my life is that I have learned to break down bigger problems into bite sized chunks.
Like leaning the markets, just break it down into individual questions and spend a good amount of time on it until I understand.
Trading has also helped me get organized.

It has taught me heightened resilience, prudence and discipline. I believe through setting milestones and studying consistently for over 18 months the 'FX markets' have changed me for the better; my pain/fear threshold has risen allowing me to offset loses and problems with ease. It has helped temper my weaker side i.e. greater discipline.

It's also made me addicted to financial information and markets.

I wish I'd known about it 10 years ago when I was at school, life would be so much different now.

The market itself made me realize who I really am and what i fear. In trading you don't take the little gains for granted, because of that I see life for all its little things so I don't take it for granted. With all that is fast past and hectic in the market, I appreciate the quiet luxury I can afford myself, such as going to a park and enjoying a nice quiet day outside. I couldn't have done that if I were working a 9-5. I found out I am an extremely patient man. Trading has taught me ways of disciplining myself and I carry that to the real world. Nothing really gets under my skin these days because of that. I judge everything based off of risk/reward. The first thing I think to myself before I do anything is, "what am I getting out of this deal"? Until that question is answered with a reasonable risk/reward ratio I won't further entertain the fact. And if doesn't have to mean monetary reward. Hard work and determination will only get you so far in the world, but your execution will make it happen.

Trading is IMO the greatest "job" in the world, of course if done correctly. I am able to spend alot more time with friends and family. When i used to work for a bank, i dreaded waking up every single damn day to the same shit and thought there has to be another way. Trading has allowed me to escape the hamster wheel and now feel more relaxed by enjoying the one life i have on earth not locked up to a desk 9am - 7pm every damn day. Now when im on the train going to see friends, girlfriends, or shopping i see many people coming from work looking exhausted and i think, Man how did i do it every day without going crazy. Im still in my 20's and i really dont plan on going back to being a 9am - to whatever salve again.

id say its consistency to me, and discipline too.
i used to be a 7-5 guy and it was a habit of mine overslept and arrived late or knock off early occasionally
in fx, a lack of consistency could probably drive you nuts, or worse... you dont trade a MA today and move on to stoch the next. you will never have enough capital to cover your "learning costs"... and here comes faith.

may be its just me, but i realise that sometimes, however a trade dont look the part, despite getting a signal/criteria that match your rules, would really turn out profitable. thats faith. and by carrying out your trades with faith and discipline. it becomes "consistency".

good days, bad days, come and go. its a cycle of ying and yang. be consistent enough and one is sure to be successful over the long run.

From when I first started trading fx, to where I am now, I can honestly say that I'm a different person in the way that perceive life's experiences. I can't even begin to tell all the lessons learned in trading that have carried over into life's situations(good or bad!). I really found out how to deal with stressful situations and how do handle my mind in order to solve a problem. A lot of times when trading, we get a lot of variables thrown at us and we must be able to make a split second decision that we think is best. I think that trading really brings out a persons true character in a stressful situation, and our appetite for fear and greed are revealed. I've found that to be successful in this business, you really have to trade fearless with proper MM and a plan and stick to it.

Did I achieve my goal? Given that my goal is to trade institutionally after I graduate, then not yet at least , but I think that in my three years of trading I've learned a wealth of knowledge that will definetly help me succeed in life.

My eyes widened when I saw the trade go into $1000 profit in 5 minutes on the computer screen. It was not my computer screen, nor was it my trade. But from that day on, I knew this was what I wanted to do. Money was the motivation.

Fast forward to a year later. I still remember that trade clearly, however my mindset had completely changed. It's not about the money anymore, it's the freedom. I still remembered the fund manager that took that trade. He dressed and spoke in the most humble way, such that one wouldn't expect him to manage large trading accounts and care for a family of 5 kids and a housewife.

And the thing I admire about him the most, his time and freedom. He trades only 4 hours a week, and the rest of the time spends it with his family and friends.

Now, I'm just a 20 year old and already experienced working the 9-5 during my intern jobs. Whenever I start becoming comfortable working a 9-5, I look towards the people who have worked there for 20-30+ years. Their health, their stress, their mess...

With the unwavering optimism of a child again, I can have enough free time through trading to pursue my life goals and dreams. And living, not working to live, is what counts right?

I got into trading because of the financial rewards it can and does allow.

I also got into it because I didnt want to deal with clients nor customers (used to be sales rep for many years).

I soon realized that many of my skills where not transferible to trading.

Then I realized how little I knew about myself and how aggresiveness could be dangerous to my health, and also account.

2 years later im not consistent yet, but im still as determined as day one.

However, I have left aside many a friend to concentrate on this endeavour and that is something that is something no one should do. This I regret deeply.

I know that I have a long journey of self discovery ahead of me. But no matter what, even if I have to work in a burger bar, I will suceed in this business sooner or later.

Trading is like almost everything else in life.... more art than science. I did not think so for many years. But whether you are chosing a wife, deciding where to live, or playing a basketball game, success hinges upon your ability to make intuative decisions at crucial moments. Yes, you look at objective criteria and gather as much information as you can, but in the end it comes down to a moment in time when you must make call--- Propose or not, shoot or pass, buy or sell. No guru advice, set of mathmatical indicators, or coin toss, can decide for you. Yes, you should process all the objective information that is avaiable to you. But sucess, for me at least, comes down to the art of market intuition. Processing all sorts of information and on the other end spitting out a decision... buy or sell. My intuative decision making is the most important factor in successful trading, and in all the other areas of my life. This realization has changed my life and it's course for the better, in a multitude of ways.

Trading, if done the right way, makes you money, a lot of money.
Nothing more, nothing less.

Whether this changes one's life for the good depends on the person.

It is certainly good not having to worry about money day in and day out, it can give a feeling of security, but that's about it.

I love the luxury of freedom trading brings. I work perhaps 10 hours a week, sometimes less, I travel all the time, I see sights, I see friends, I'm becoming more content with every day.
