We have S&P and Oil futures up. Gold is ranging.

I just wonder if there might not be some xtra-large euro repatriation left to do b4 Xmas?

If so, mix that with a dovish FOMC blab and I wouldn't be surprised to see 200 pips of upside on E/U by NY close.

I dont trade news but I do not see anything red for today.

I'm long on EURUSD and short on USDCHF long-term.
In case it comes down(EURUSD) , I don't short, but hedge.

[GERMANY DATA FLASH] Indicator For Actual Consensus Previous GER Flash PMI Manuf SA Dec-09 53.1 52.6 52.4 GER Flash PMI Services SA Dec-09 53.1 51.8 51.4 08:25 GMT - [RIKSBANK PREVIEW] The Riksbank announce its latest monetary policy decision today at 8.30gmt, with markets largely going for a no-change outcome to leave rates at the 0.25% record low. There have been some concerns of late that keeping rates low for an extended period will create a housing bubble, however the Riksbank's Nyberg does not consider the development of the housing market to be a problem over the s/t. Gov Ingves has insisted that rates will not be raised until autumn next year, pointing out that the CB can't do much to address the housing market, and conceding that the low rate is needed for a longer period of time in order to stimulate growth & help Sweden out of the crisis. All 21 economists in a Reuters poll expect a no-change outcome. Revisions to the rate path, namely upward, could potentially be the more interesting development today.


The [GREEK FIN MIN] stresses his commitment to deficit reduction again, saying he is certain results of his efforts will be seen quickly and debt should be reined in by 2012. For now, however, debt is added as the govt privately places Eur2.0 bn, paying a yield of 6M Euribor +250bp for its financing needs, a good deal, given the 5Y is now paying 5.09%, a premium of 282.2 over the German bmk. Meanwhile, unrest is growing in Greece with strikes looking set to become a common feature as the public vents its anger at the govt. The 10Y [YIELD SPREAD] has widened to 257.0bp over Bunds vs 254.6bp at yest's close. The heat is also on for [SPAIN] as it tops Moody's 'misery index', a measure of unempl and fiscal deficit. With the highest unempl rate in the EU, at 17.3% in Q3, and a 2009 deficit f/c at 11.2%/GDP, the position seems deserved, but is shrugged off by the spread, narrowing a tad to 60.6bp from 61.5bp yest.

.....Price has been back and retested 1.4520, and the close of the last 15 min bar at 1.4540 has confirmed a further upward move in price.

I never tried hedging as I am not 100% sure how this works. My trading plan is quiet simple and either my trade is valid or not. Might read some stuff up about hedging in the future, but so far I had no need.

[RIKSBANK KEEPS RATES UNCHANGED AT 0.25%] As expected, the Riksbank has kept rates unchanged at the record low level of 0.25%. All 21 economists in a Reuters poll (and IGM) had expected a no-change outcome. Next meeting is due on the 11 Feb 2010. More to follow.


[GERMAN DEC FLASH PMIS] came in stronger than expected as the manuf headline rose to 53.1 from 52.4 previously while the services index also climbed to 53.1 from 51.4 in Nov. This is better than forecasts for 52.6 and 51.8 for manuf and services resp. In the breakdown, the manuf sector output expanded for the 6th month in a row, coming in at 57.3 from 56.7 prev while for the services sector, business expectations dipped to 52.6 from 56.3 prev. Combined with France's reads that were broadly in line with expectations, the German prints could give a boost to the EMU PMIs, due at 8.58GMT.

I don't believe until the end on the PMI data.
It's based mainly on interviews and not on concrete data.

Are we really going to wait all day for the bloody FOMC to move the fiber down?
