technically that may be a pin bar but in the context of the chart it is untradable. just my opinion, everyone trades their own way.

A re-entry sonic on EU (long)

EJ: We may not have seen the last of movement on this one for this session. First chart shows ranging for two sessions already, and with increased trading activity at last low. Second chart is setup for long, should it happen.

Wait, yes. But we wait for a breakout, which can happen anytime. The longer it ranges, the less "predictable" becomes the time/part of session it might be expected to happen. It could happen during lunch, it could happen when Sirius XM fires Stern, or it could even happen at the beginning of an Asian session! So, it behooves us to keep analyzing, with each new cycle of the WAVE, imho.

how long have you's been learn about FX before you became profitable?

I'll pass, except to comment that whatever answers you get will be meaningless. This is because people of different personalities have different results. More specifically, people who sharpen their skills of discipline and patience are more likely to progress more rapidly to point of profitability.

I closed GU short when TP 1 at 1.6230 was readched. +38 pips overall
I closed all because now it is London Close & forex looks beginning ranging.

More GU looks to find good support at 1.6220.

TP1 hit => +39 pips

Am also still waiting for this pair to show more convinction.

Given the FX futures rollover tonight (next March contracts are ready), and various other Central Banks statements, the market is nervous, in a waiting stance.

GJ seems to be in the same position vs the JPY.

I don't know anything about James16 thread, and I have no fight with whoever finds success with J16's help. There is more than one way to skin a cat.

When I see Basber posting about pinbar's, it is always (at east as I recall) where he is pointing out a pinbar at long term support/resistance on a four hour or daily or even a weekly chart. He doesn't get all excited about random pinbars on 15 minute charts.

I have all respect for Sonic, and I know he respects J16, and I trust Sonic's judgment.

If J16 is about trading pinbars, and you want to trade pinbars, then you know where to go. As I said yesterday, this is the wrong thread for trading pin bars.

This is SonicR. Read the manual. No pin bar analysis necessary. SonicR is about support and resistance, highs and low, higher highs and higher lows, lower lows and lower highs, and last, but certainly not least, wave analysis.

Here is the biggest problem I see new Sonikers have when they come to this thread and decide to try to learn to trade this system: Rather than focus on SonicR, which is a self-contained, everything you need to succeed system, they add this indicator, and that candlestick and this that or the other chart pattern to the mix. Well, if someone wants to do that, I cannot stop them. As Domas said, to each his own.

However, it is not fair to new Sonikers to add all the extras that have nothing to do with the SonicR. It is not fair to old Sonikers who really do want to help newbies learn the system, but constantly have to undo the confusion that these other distractions add.

Those people who have come here and learned here and succeeded here are the ones who focused on SonicR and did not let themselves be hooked by every new indicator, who do not allow themselves to be distracted by fanciful chart patterns, and do not let their eyes to get poked out by stray pin bars.

The people who succeed here do so by focusing on support and resistance, highs and low, higher highs and higher lows, lower lows and lower highs, and last, but certainly not least, wave analysis.

I do not want a fight. I do not want strife. I want peace and happiness. I want people who want to learn SonicR to have a chance to succeed with it. That is made very difficult when we add things that are not SonicR to the thread. All of a sudden I start to read things like:

"I didn't take that long because of that pin bar."
"I didn't take that short because of the reverse head and shoulders."
"I missed that trade because the Woohickey Indicator was showing hidden backward divergence."

I've done it myself when I first wandered into this thread. Thankfully I realized and accepted the fact very quickly that to learn this system, I needed to focus on the core concepts: support and resistance, highs and low, higher highs and higher lows, lower lows and lower highs, and last, but certainly not least, wave analysis.

So, from now on, when I see anyone adding something to the SonicR that distracts and leads Sonikers astray, I'm going to go after it. We have a lot of new Sonikers wanting to learn right now. Learning to trade is not easy. We should try not to make it more difficult than it already is. The easiest way for someone to learn to trade the SonicR successfully will be if we keep them, and this thread, focused upon the core concepts of SonicR - support and resistance, highs and low, higher highs and higher lows, lower lows and lower highs, and last, but certainly not least, wave analysis.

And let me say this: If you click on the "find all posts by ddyatrader," you will find that I only post to two threads here at FF. I posted a few times to a thread that discusses the NFA rules and my FXCM. But otherwise, all of my posts are to the SonicR thread. I do read other threads. I have read dozens and dozens and dozens of systems here at FF. One thing almost all of them of those other threads have in common is that somewhere between post #1 and post # 1000, the system changes into something completely unrecognizable from its original look. That has not happened here, and the reason it hasn't is because Sonic and others have stepped in to focus this thread on the core concepts of the system - support and resistance, highs and low, higher highs and higher lows, lower lows and lower highs, and last, but certainly not least, wave analysis.

This thread is now over 8000 posts long and in a few days will be fourteen months old. It is remarkable how consistent what you see posted today is with what Sonic was posting over a year ago. This thread has been a blessing to those who stay focused. And we will keep this thread focused.

And last, but not least, if you are trading bars, you are not trading price action. If you are trading SonicR, you are trading price action. Bars are liars. Price is the only truth for traders. SonicR teaches you to see the truth.

Now, I suggest that every Soniker make it their homework today or tonight to read or re-read Sonic's manual from post 1 of this thread. I am going to do it myself right now.

We all fumbled around a bit when we first started with SonciR, but by and large, we each stayed focused on the core concepts, and we were rewarded for having done so (If only I could get TAH to stop rampling on about the mysterious "Big Boys" ).

I'll try to give you a good grasp of the complex articulations at work in our financial world.

a) The big players decide according to national deficits and other accounting data around the globe of the next futures contracts to issue for the next quarters.

b) The economy has been sustained by a concerted conjonction of "quantitative easing" (in other terms: stimulus injected by governments and central banks), the measures of which are showing results (GDPs, unemployment rates, companies' quarterly results, consumers' consumption, public deficit, bonds, and other analytical accounting data).

c)These results are scrutinised, analysed, and projections for the next future are being forecasted, according to the above mentioned results.

d)Therefore the different FX hedge futures are being issued to match the accounting calculations and the fiscal projections considered by the issuers. Within acceptable limits. Let's not forget that futures are sold to prevent prices from too much volatility for the issuer. So both, the seller and the buyer, agree in advance upon a "fair" price projection, independently from excessive speculation and from what the price might be later (at contract expiry).

I am succint here, to describe these derivatives that are nothing else than financial instruments.
Futures, options, rollover in the FX market, and economic data, all play a role in the price parity attributed to the different pairs. You could browse and read more about the above subjects (and bonds, gilts and the likes : fixed income financial instruments).

EXAMPLE: if the audited accounting balance of the EU corresponds to a window parity of 1.4500 to 1.5000 vs the US zone, the big players would consider fair for the EURUSD pair to be sold as a futures for the next 2 quarters considered, at the price considered fair by the books.

Rollover, as explained elsewhere, can affect prices from close to the consecutive open, for this reason amongst others.

This is what regulatory affairs have to deal with, in the financial business.
I am professionally coming from the regulatory affairs business in pharmaceuticals, originally (made my Masters in Endocrinology).

Hey, ddaytrader.....I just heard from one 'o the "big boys" about you. He said to tell you if you don't stop trying to make forex trading clear and profitable for folks, he and his "gang" are coming after you! He also added that all them "indickators" (he called them that) have a purpose, and he and his gang would recommend that everyone load up on them....all they can find.....the more, the better!

..none of which will do anything to make anyone a better trader, and the thought of which may actually be harmful to one's chance of success ...

How can one resist the clarity of this man's perspective? (Another addition to my notebook)

We, humans, are such beings that always search for perfection, therefore
we are constantly trying to find a rationale for every winner and looser there
is, adding pinbars, indicators, chart patterns and forcing setups
to prove ourselves that this is a profitable system.
Can you imagine ddaytrader or sonicdeejay wondering why this trade
was a looser? No, because they do not need to rationalize themselves
every single trade, coz nobody can predict markets 100%. Trading-
is probability business. Patience, commitment and discipline in trading is all
you need to achieve success and profit.

I'd like to quote Raghee H. from her book "Trading Forex for Maximum Profit":

"When you are looking for an edge, the "holy grail of trading" song calls you.
What you don't know is that there are so many traders that were called by
the same song and wrecked their ships on the rocks. [...] There is a fact
that when I accepted it, it became my turning point in trading, and it is this:
Not all market moves are mine to profit from. Not every move is for me. A
move that makes money for one trader will be loss for another or won't even
register a setup for yet another. That is the real secret!"

Well tell him to bring it on, 'cause I got truth on my side, and the truth cannot be defeated unless we let it. And I'm not going to let it. And I know you won't either.
