Rbi, many thanks for your EA. Your time is much appreciated. I know these things take dozens of hours to do right. By all rights it should be getting a lot more notice here than it has been.

A couple of mods I'd ask you to consider:

1. A filter keeping us out of trades if the box is too big. The idea being that if the box is already too big by trading time, then the daily range is already exhausted past the point of safe trading. IMHO 80 pips would be a safe default value.

<<<<<<UnsafeRangeInPips:800>>>>> [TRUE/FALSE]

2. An EMA entry filter. I've been watching this one mod closely for over 3 months now. This one mod alone will filter out 50% or more of bad entries. Assuming all other filters are "go", the EMA acts as the final filter before entry. Basically, no trade is taken until the EMA line crosses the Long/Short price point as defined by the breakout box+buffer margin. 5 EMA/Close works best for me, but to each his own.

<<<<<<EMA_EntryFilter>>>>>> [TRUE/FALSE]
<<EMA_Value:5>>
<<OPEN/CLOSE>>

I'd go live with your robot tomorrow if it had these mods inside!

Thanx again for all your help, past and future!

gangsta1 and gang members,

Ok...for those of us who are continually challenged by the ever-changing time zones and frames, am I correct when I plot my London breakout box (2 1/2 hours in duration) to end at 8:30AM London time?

And the New York breakout box (2 1/2 hours) to end at 8:30AM New York Time?

So who is trading the upcoming London session with gangsta1's recommendation:
2 slope indicator trade direction
10 pip buffer (including spread)
15 pip SL
75 pip TP
BE after +30 pips

Thanks, y'all!

If you stick with the rules set forth in Nimrod's posting on page one, you can easily find the timezones to trade. Any deviation from the first posting means your not trading the system but a variation of.

Scap my 2.21 Profit factor, that was when I thought Anthony's first EA could be adjusted for SL TP. Using just his, I get a PF of 1.44...still pretty useful.

Anthony, using the first EA where TP is hidden in the script, I adjusted the breakeven point and achieved this graph. Can you adjust the breakeven parameter or does that need to be done inside the script also? The graph looks a little 'stepped'.

Move to breakeven with at +35. Try SL 30, 40 and 50 for GU please, if possible.

So is the above graph an invalid one? ie. it doesn't work like that?

Hello DubaiTrader. Can you post a chart of what you're looking at for me. I'm at work right now and don't have access to my laptop. I've been following your slope method for a while now and I'm very impressed. Great work.

Hi Dubai,

My method as described in my post # 2109 seems to be working well. Entry at 1.6741. Moved stop to breakeven after moved 33 pips. Target revised to 1.6802 as the 14.30pm trade also triggered. Given that this is above a significant number target set below this figure at 1.6793

It's a H1 chart for the slopes, whilst the box is formed on a M30 chart.

Indy- Good point about taking the profit slightly below the psychological level of 1.6800. Nicely done.

Thanks for update the EA,

-Could you please share with us the basic settings? (like MA_TF, MA_Period, orderExpiretime, etc).
I've trying to backtested and after 1st trade, an ERROR 131 appears in testing journal and no more trades are placed... (I use FXCM UK plattform as broker), can you please help?

I'm really appreciate your contribution to this thread.

JerryFX,

This is explanations I got from RBI via PM:
Target_increment is the increment (# of pips) that you want the next target to be for the trailing stop. Initial Jump is the same, its just the first Target; Stop Increment is the same idea but its the increment you want the stoploss to move everytime a new target is hit. so heres an example...

Buy order occurs... your initial target for the trailing stop is open price + Initial jump (pips). the trailing stop will not be activated until this price target is hit. Now imagine that price hits the target (open price + Initial jump); now what will happen is that the new target will be (old Target + Target increment). at the same time, your stop loss will move to (original stoploss + Stop Increment).

so basically for every time the new target is hit; both the Target and SL will be increased by the # of pips you set.

BEStop is the distance in pips from the open price that you want the BE to be activated... so if you set it to 20 and you go up 20 pips but start to fall again, the order will be closed at Break even if price goes back down that low...

max dev reopen is for more than 1 trade... its a temporary fix for an issue I was having... just leave it at 5 for now...

hope this helps.
Failure is NOT an option

Hey everyone....

Read some of your questions and am getting alot of the same PMs so I took down the EA and will re post another update with some of your suggestions included... I noticed a few bugs in testing that's why I took it down, so DISCONTINUE using it until my next post.

One thing you guys could help me with is... when we use more than one trade per day to capture re-breaks theres one issue with my coding... when were using the Break even stop and a trade gets stopped out at BE another order opens...

I'm thinking of not allowing there next trade by either:

A) a timer which we will start when a BE stop is hit and the next trade will not be allowed unitl x # of minutes

OR

B) next bar on the chart.

What should it be?

added the the MaxBoxSize... Check filters (bottom of settings)

as for the EMA filter it already exists within the EA. all you gotta do is set the EMAperiod to 5, Stop_inside_Box to true, and Use_Slow_MAFilter to false.

Here is the latest update... Please replace this one with the old. I still do not recommend using this live until you forward test on demo.

Also note that I have yet to solve the re-breaks issue and I do not recommend using more than one trade per day (leave MaxTrades = 1)

Just programmed an EA....
So far I have is this programmed in the EA for the managment of trades:....

Trades
- 2 trades open
- trade 1 has a set TP
- trade 2 has a Trailing stop of x Pips once Trade 1 is closed in profit

False Breakouts
- if x % of TP is not reached within x amount of time then SL is moved closer to avoid full loss

Ranging Markets
- if a target is not hit in x amount of hours then EA gets as close as possible to B/E to close trades (based on average price since trade executed)

- if 90% of TP is reached and trade time has beenb open for x amount of hours then TP is cut to 70 to 80%(based on average price since trade executed)

- if 90% of SL is reached then EA gets as close as possible to B/E to close trade (based on average price since trade executed)

...LETS BRAINSTORM....

Many thanks for the quick work on the MaxBoxSize setting!

1. Rbi, here is your very first post in this thread. How many of these original features does the robot still have? (I'm especially interested in the 2 colored red.) If those 2 have been taken out I'd ask they be replaced asap. As a regular box breakout trader they make perfect sense to me and I'd think they'd do more good than harm.

2. RE the EMA settings: I had already noticed an MA setting of course, but I didn't see it described anywhere in the thread as an EMA. Please advise. (If it really is an EMA then I'd ask you to change the parameter title.)

3. Do we need to add a zero for 5-digit brokers?

4. Is the start clock GMT or broker time?
