Has anyone ever looked at all 4 major dollar crosses, thought about it carefully and then picked the cross they thought would move the best in a given market only to pick the worst dog of the 4???

Sitting there fully annoyed that the other 3 have gone 30 or 40 pips while your trade has only moved 10 or 15???

Saying it like this, you might as well just guess every trade you do
There are those who know, and there are those who don't know.

Hey Bemac, I started the thread!! You know I've done it !!!!

The funniest one to me is when I choose the pound and it moves the least. That kills me because the pound, statistically and typically, is the mover.

Hello palabara,

Well, I haven't resorted to that thank goodness. But, It makes you think. You look at the four major dollar crosses for signs of strength, the total movement on the last move, resistance patterns in the area you are in and can still get it wrong.

I like to say pick the one that is moving the most on a pull back. Meaning that if on the first push of an intra day move, the pound moved the most, then take the pound on the first pullback. But, sometimes the pound will be tapped and the other 3 will catch up.

The opposite strategy that sometimes works in the right circumstances is playing the "catch up" move. The example being: say the yen and and the franc have broken out but the euro has not taken out primary resistance, you buy the euro with the thought that as soon as that level gives way it will move hard in your favor. I speculate that it will "catch up" to the others. I like this strategy when there is some uncertainty or I am a little "late to the party"
