[PRELIM UK Q3 GDP] has come in much weaker than expected at -0.4% q/q instead of a consensus f/c of +0.2% q/q putting the y/y at -5.2% vs -5.5% prev. The numbers come as a shock and show that the UK economy remains deeply in recession. In the breakdown, production industries fell 0.7% q/q (driven by weakness in mining/quarrying -3.5% q/q, and not surprising given the plunge in Aug IP) while services fell 0.2% q/q and construction -1.1% q/q. The sixth consecutive quarterly fall growth leaves QE still very much on the agenda ahead of the key BoE/MPC meeting on Nov 5.

Yes but not the hell perhaps , 2nd spike down started & it will again stop , I will long there too if stay in front of the computer .

eur,gbp news are not any important perhaps for the market move now-a-days , they are previleged to become stronger than USD ,so up in very low volumes too in such a top levels.I donot know anything about world economy just assumption .Push it up to the extreme top so as to fall very fast by gravity .

We are hearing talk of longest post war UK recession and the numbers surely raise the chances of extending QE in Nov, which is such a driver of markets at present. [EUR/GBP] has gained about 1% on the dreadful -0.4% q/q UK GDP result and players here are eyeing further upside towards 0.9150/60 in the short-term. Flow wise, we are now hearing of Asian reserve manager bids being layered below 1.6500. Low so far is 1.6489 and the Pound still looks really vulnerable.

I'd try 1.63xx if you HAVE to buy some sterling.
(if you scalp it like me, then I guess it really won't make a diff...)

E/G spike carried up to 9191 on some platforms,
as if in a hint that the 92 level is what mkts needs, for whatever reason.
Moving backward into that metric, GBP is still too much.

I know you go technical and this is subjective analysis, but it's Friday.....

Driver55 saw this (Cable drop) a little early, but in the end, he was spot on.

heads up on gu below 6428 it could free fall to 6206 6145 then 5948..then lower... at a critical spot now..

Trading through lots of news in tough but eurusd still stable & my longs sl at be . so no worry ,will recheck before US news . Yes ,there are huge falls in gu,gj but not shorting as may be late already & not checked beforehand.

Focus comment - [UK BE DAMNED] as Q3 GDP trashes hopes of recovery and puts the UK's plight firmly back in the picture, just when the EU shows more signs of strength (PMI's/IFO), having already shocked us with the surprise Q2 comeback. See page.


[RUSSIAN CB DEP GOV ULYUKAYEV] has confirmed that the CB has moved its RUB intervention level to 35.50 vs the EUR-USD basket. Dealers reported this fact earlier and the CB has since said it has bought USD 500mn in FX markets today, as it attempts to slow the RUB's appreciation. Today [USD/RUB] has dropped to 28.97 and the Rouble is at 35.522 vs. the basket, as oil holds above USD 81/brl with continued USD weakness.

if we get a pullback on gu it may be a bounce at 6428.. i would not enter a short without a retrace.. not for the weak stomache,,, amatures keep out
