I thought that Rob might steal the show! Kathy & Boris I thought might be good too.
I was gonna give Robs piptopia blog a quick plug as well - looks like you beat me to it. I hafta admit I'm a big RB fan!
His piptopia looks like an extension or spin off from his journal he gives to his 1:1 trainees - an interesting mix of musings, fundies analysis (something for Merlin) and other stuff. I hope he manages to keep it up given all his other commitments.
Had to Laugh at the Steve Nison comment. I seen him in London and though he was a jerk. He repackages all his old stuff into "NEW SECRETS" a load of bollox, sorry my language goes blue when i get upset.

Steve Nison may be whatever you say... but many, many months ago another member of this forum thought he was a great guy with a lot to offer and very gracious, when encountered in an unplanned personal meeting with him.
I have never met him but as an educator, I have experience designing instruction for students. Nison's book "Candlestick Course" is one of the best designed and comprehensive tools to help anyone learn to use candlesticks for trading. Most books simply tell you about trading and offer some charts to look at. This approach covers only the lower levels of learning..knowledge and comprehension.
In CC you are taught in such a way that more of your mind is engaged in critical thinking. In the course you have to take what you have learned and use it... application. You are also asked to do analysis ... find relationships ... and predict what would happen ... synthesis.. . It is a very thorough presentation that is very well done, utilizing the mind's functions more fully.
I felt that nine out of ten of the presentations I went to were worth the Expo fees. I'll definetly attend the upcoming Forex Expos in Ft. Lauderdale in March 06 and again in Vegas in Sept 06. IMHO Rob Booker was by far the best speaker, Kathy and Boris running close second. The others were pretty equal and deserve good recognition. FXCM did an excellent job presenting themselves professionally, I feel that they'll still be around when others fall off the Forex wagon.
One note about Expos in general, expect more sales pitches than you expect. Something else to mention, the folks at Intershow put on these trade shows for traders. There is a "Trader's Expo" and now there is the NEW "Forex Trader's Expo." The Trader's Expo is geared toward stocks, futures, and options traders while the Forex Expo is Forex specific. Read the ads carefully before committing to attend these shows.
BTW Merlin, you are a true magician. I looked at badge after badge after badge, and you simply disappeared into the crowd. Did you do any good on the craps table? I went home with the same amount of money that I brought so it was as if we(my family) didn't spend any money. HARD EIGHT was my best friend!

Hey Boycie - I'm curious, what comments in my post saved you 100$'s? Just
send me 1/2 to cover my gambling losses and we'll call it even.
As for my comments regarding Steve Nison, I am not knocking him or candlesticks. I think candlesticks are great. I just didn't like the presentation, which was mostly on basic info., like what a doji, spinning top, etc. is. Sure, some of the speakers mentioned their materials for sale during their presentation, but it was just a few minutes, which I did not mind. I felt Nison spent way too much time plugging his courses for sale, which turned me off.
My doctor told me to cut down on the wine, women, and song before I came here. At least I cut back on the singing. I've been in Vegas 2 weeks, incl. a side trip to Tijuana. Heading home Wed. to be with the family for the holidays.
MM, you just saved me from going to the expo with you good commentry.
I feel Lou may have got the wrong end of the stick on my Nison comment, sure his work is good but if he is constantly bombarding you with e-mail with his "New Secrets" DVD set or seminar that cost anything from between $200-$800 which is just basically his old material repackaged. I bought his first two DVDs years ago and then seen he was coming to London to promote his "New Work" " not seen in any of my DVDs" So I went along to see could I learn at least 1 % of something new. This is the part that annoyed me....his seminar on "new Work" was just like watching his first 2 dvds. Therefore I thought the seminar was of no benefit to me and confronted him about it. He brushed me off with a poor explaination while he was selling his DVDs.
Therfore this is where my explanation comes from.... I am entitled to a view, am I ???

boycie,
I agree, it is deceptive to market the same old, same old, with a new package without telling people what is inside.
I think I have blocked or unsubscribed to Nison's newsletters because I seldom get anything anymore.
However, I simply stated my experience with Nison's work and the anecdote from another trader.
I do wish that those who market their work using the word 'course' actually use some learning/teaching techniques. Otherwise it is just a book or an article, really.
Do I think you have the right to an opinion? Yes, but only if it agrees with mine !!
