Forex Trading Expo Casebook (merged threads)

Just wondering if anyone plans to attend the Trader's Expo in Chicago. June 23 thru June 26. I'm going, would be cool to meet for lunch and pretend that we're loaded with investment capital.

I've just returned from the Trader's Expo in Chicago. Overall it was an informative venture for me, and I was satisfied with the seminars. The only thing that really sucked (for lack of a better term) was the seminar entitled "The Nuts and Bolts of Foreign Exchange." It should have been called, "These Nuts Want Your Forex Business." It was a true sales pitch.

But anyway, here's a really cool story.

I had spent all day Wednesday in seminars. The only seminar on Thursday that interested me was the one with Steve Nison, but because he was to speak with three other gurus, the cost was $199.00. I didn't want to pay that much, so I set that day aside for sightseeing. After an impressive boat tour of the city, I stopped by the convention just to see what was happening. Steve was scheduled to speak about 30 minutes from my arrival. Thinking I could slip a staff member a $20, I asked the guy if they still had tickets for the seminar. He said, "They decided to make it free!" I said, "Cool!"

I found my way into the room, scored a piece of cheesecake, and found a seat. Just as I sat down, Steve Nison comes walking by. I asked him nicely for his autograph, he agreed and signed my notepad. Then he says, "Did you get a book?" I replied, "No, but I do have one of your books. It's an older one." He locates a staff member and says, "This guy didn't get a book. Everyone should have gotten a book." The staff member hands me this black canvas bag and says, "Here you go, last one!" Inside the bag was Steve's latest book, The Candlestick Course and it was autographed. I thanked them both, sat and enjoyed Steve's seminar, and went back to my sightseeing only to get rained out. But that didn't bother me one bit. I was a happy little camper.

This book teaches you how to understand Candlesticks... not to simply notice them. It uses an instructional objectives format. Packed with all kinds of great information presented in a way that helps you interact with the information.

If you believe the proverb " I hear and forget, I see and remember, I do and understand". Then this is a ' do ' book.

What were your thoughts about how it was run and the number of vendors?

i didnt go to this one, but i did attend the one in February in NYC. it was pretty good, lots of vendors. 75% of the vendors are hokus pokus though

all the brokers were there, so i got to meet a lot of people that i talk to on the phone all the time. overall it was worth the time and i would go again.

Did you engage in any discussions with brokers about stop hunting? <grin>

i wonder if there will be a video recording or session transcripts made available so that those who can't attend can see what happened...i looked on the site but there was no email address to ask? does anybody know?

what do you mean "taking the stand" iso? you mean getting a booth?

maybe FF could spring for the plane fair and hotel for some of us longer term members? it never hurts to try. oh, and a few chips wouldnt hurt.

i meant delivering a speech or presentation like the other guys (and gals)!

trust me, you dont want to hear me giving any speeches!

maybe you could represent FF and deliver a killer talk?

btw, i think they have a great speaker list, im especially looking foward to seeing rob booker's talk.

I dont know about craps but I can teach you a thing or two about Texas Hold 'em. What do you say?

i think there are far better traders on this board that would do a much better job! seriously i think that they could be just as good as the experts out there and plus you get FF in the limelight!

yeah, rob would be the pick for me but i think Boris & Kathy could be good value as well!
