SNB intervention?

Cross-currents, headwinds, all manner of breezes are buffeting forex markets this morning as month-end pressures, huge intergovernmental payments in Europe and intervention vie with economic data to push markets to and fro. It has been tough to get a handle on any sustainable themese this morning as the market trades from one large flow to the next.
EUR/USD stop-loss orders from intraday longs are eyed in the 1.4590/95 region as prices unexpectedly reverse to the downside. Keep positions smaller than normal today as volatility is high. EUR/USD trades now at 1.4588

All we need now is a big fat rise in crude oil inventories and today could turn into a lot of fun for shorts. After that ADP number 10%
unemployment seems to be unavoidable.

With the media helping out with headlines like this (pasted below), it's no wonder people think everything is rosey. I keep waiting for Wall Street to pull the rug out from under everone. Maybe there aren't enough sheep back in the market, who knows.

They can only keep this up for so long, it's starting to look like they'll keep it proped up until after the first of the year. The numbers at Christmas can't be good. The consumer will have the final say with their pocketbook (and not the trumped up consumer sentiment index number).

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The recession faded in the spring with U.S. economic activity shrinking at a pace of just 0.7 percent, a better-than-expected showing that buttressed beliefs the economy is growing now.

chicago pmi much weeker..The market was expecting 52.0 after touching 50.0 in August. This suggests the auto industry is not booming after selling a lot of inventory in the cash-for-clunkers scheme.

Stocks skid on jobs report

A weaker-than-expected employment report overshadows a better-than-expected reading on GDP, sending stocks lower on the last trading day of the third quarter.



NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- Stocks retreated Wednesday as a better-than-expected reading on GDP growth was overshadowed by a labor market report that was worse than forecast.
The Dow Jones industrial average (INDU) lost 95 points, or nearly 1%. The S&P 500 (SPX) index fell 10 points, or 0.9%. The Nasdaq composite (COMP) slid 20 points, or almost 1%.
Stocks edged lower Tuesday after a surprise drop in consumer confidence countered a better-than-expected housing market report. The Dow lost 0.5% while the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq composite both fell 0.2%.
Wednesday is the last trading day of the third quarter.
Since bottoming at a 12-year low March 9, the S&P 500 has gained just shy of 57% and the Dow has gained around 49%, as of Tuesday's close. After hitting a six-year low, the Nasdaq has gained nearly 68%.
Economy: The broadest measure of the nation's economy declined in the April-June period, but not by as much as previously reported. The government said gross domestic product shrank at a 0.7% annual rate, down from the 1% rate reported last month and below the 1.2% consensus forecast of economists surveyed by Briefing.com.
ADP's report on private sector payrolls showed that 254,000 private sector jobs were lost in September. The report was expected to show that employers in the private sector cut 200,000 jobs from their payrolls. But the number was down from a revised 277,000 in August.
The ADP report comes ahead of Thursday's Challenger report on job cuts and Friday's much-anticipated government report on September payrolls.
