ECB's Trichet says U.S. support for strong dollar important

FRANKFURT (Reuters) - European Central Bank President Jean-Claude Trichet said U.S. commitment to a strong dollar is important in keeping currency markets and the global economy stable.

Trichet also told Italy's Corriere della Serra newspaper that he welcomed a reference in the Group of 20 summit communique that a sense of normalcy should not lead to complacency.

"I consider very important for the stability of the exchange rates and the prosperity of the global economy that (U.S. Federal Reserve) Chairman Ben Bernanke, Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner and President (Barack) Obama underline 'that a strong dollar is in the interest of the US'," he said, according to an interview transcript published on the ECB's Web site on Sunday. "I trust that it is not only true but that it is also very important for the global economic stability."

Imho, I wouldn't pick a number. I would wait and see what the price action tells you.

Thats what I usually do when I enter a trade. If price action is indicative of more liquidity on the offer side then I will sell in that area(+/- 5-10pips).

USDCAD looks bearish longer term to me ymmv

I think Merkel winning German elections helped EUR longer term. However, Trichet said he considereid Dollar strenght important for the global economic stability so I guess if it got too extreme, ECB would have to intervene somehow. They cant print, thats both an handicap and a blessing.

What's your thoughts on EU at the moment? Still looking for a HIGH @ 4900 this week or we going to settle to the 4500 until another LONG leg?

Yes, your broker can.

There is a lot of information on FF worth checking to know little more about what causes spread to widen and shrink and in which market situations.

My broker offered 10 pip spread few minutes ago, now 7.

I remain of the idea expressed several days ago, though I expect one leg upward on EURUSD.
Here you can see my current position. Of course there's a psychological aspect to consider and respect the uncertainty that grows with every passing day.
However just for this reason I try to focus (on both EURUSD & USDCHF ) on a price range.
We have already worked several times this price ranges tha are important especially for those who seek to follow the trend.

USDCHF 10262-10242
EURUSD 14697-14727

It is not a coincidence that we have opened with a gap up above 14697,
and as I see it ... this gap will not close for now, but only after we having done the right max.


Personally I will change my plan only after I see a open ( on EURUSD ) above 14907 on daily basis.

because everything just opened up. Spreads are gonna be high across the board. give it another 30-60 min, it will return to normal.

Gawd, you don't stop do you? Why don't you just stick a sock in your cake-hole and be done with it.

Last time I looked PA went up over 200 pips from when Spsantos placed his trade but if that's how you get your jollies thinking that you've taken another trader's money on this forum then you are one sick puppy.

Bet you are about 5 foot nothing in real life as well.
