It's pretty much a given rates aren't going up anytime soon.

That's not the hesitation.

The market wants to hear when.

If rates remain low for an 'extended period' then this pair should move up.

If he says conditions are favorable for a increase this year the market could sell off.

I never trade before he's done talking.

It's like NFP... he could say one thing that could send the market 200 PIPS in either direction.

My best 'guess' is that rates won't change until next year. That 'should' send this pair to 1.5.

I took Profit at 4745 from 4765 +20 pips.....yea, I could ride it out to my projected 4720....but I am unsure right now in these waters as I think this 2pm meeting with FED is going to stir the waters and technicals might not work as well......

I am happy with +20....for the moment....

Taking profit at such a steep angle, especially when seeing a stall, is always prudent. I just took a partial profit myself, and moved my stop to BE.

Thanks....glad you made some too....I could have just left a little on and done partial but the CHF hit R hard at 1.0275 and it bounced back hard so that tells me there is some Sellers there and the EU is correlating with it as well.......we may test 4775 again and make another attempt towards the 4700 area before FED meeting....but its noon and too risky for me.....

And we are at almost 100% ATR on EU....4840 to 4732

Hoping (but not betting) that they suggest winter for rate hike, or something of the like, to hopefully bring the market back to reality so we get the long overdue retracement. Otherwise, we're looking at a tough slog until the 1.500 fatalistic sentiment disappears (or is reached, in fact). Never ceases to amaze me how even professionals from time to time ignore the tape....

I am waiting on the sidelines, this is too risky. Besides does anyone remember what direction the EU took at the last Fed release? they will certainly make NO change...but anyone?

I do not think anybody knows it technically,it can be either side & we will take it as possible move technically after it already happen. so better watch out which direction it is going while actually going & when change direction too & try trade if possible to quickly changeable direction .

rate cut not expected. depends what he says about recession being over and inflation. and if he gives gives clues that economy is stronger then expected. it will give clues of future rate hikes. and could strengthen u.s.d. or negative news could launch it.

Exactly. Rate hike isn't likely, but if they are not hawkish in their sentiment, inflation is going to get out of control (already is starting to, actually). But (1) they have to say it, and (2) the market has to believe it in order for the dollar to gain some strength.

Hi guys,
obviously nobody knows what will happen in 1 hour, when there will be news. Trading in those moments are difficult than dangerous. As some of you knows, I look very much the relationship between the various crosses. Coincidentally, today USDCHF is in a range of values reported some days ago. These will be for me the levels that will make me decide how to operate on EURUSD.
