hehe I thought about the same thing, I am waiting to go short for next week using the weekly pivot res... (dependent on where the price is of course)..

What caused that spike to happen? No news, and if it was indirectly related to the NZ GDP it took almost 45 minutes to shake things up... Now I'm asking myself why am I back in after a year of no trading. I shorted at 1.4780 a earlier today, thought I picked a top and was so proud of myself, ha ha.

I opened another short @ 1.4820. So, $860 in the hole now.

Good question, xtensive.

Short answer: in ranging market conditions, I might be thinking a fade back to the pivot could be a real play. Lately, though, movement (long, in this case) away from the pivot is likely to keep on going. Pivots are cool but they are not like some magic magnet that can negate an overall trend. Just my $0.02.

Well, I did fade this one for 3 x 5-pip scalps. Had just woke up and got 2 on the way up, as well. Old habits die hard. Back in the day (yeah, a month ago - remember Home on the Range? Scalpers Joy?) what went up could be counted on to come down. Not so sure now....

word on the street is that china is talking down the dollar to get a better rate on US treasuries.

that's why it seems a lot of pairs either keep going up or keep going down.

This has nothing to do with the movement we just got in the euro...
The euro has moved as the GDP in NZD has come out as forecasted.....and this is very good for carry trades.....hence the co-relative impact....Also the fundamental take on this is that nzd out of reccession..if you know what I mean...

I dont look at fundies...distorts your thought process if you are a day trader just look at TA....Trendlines and that should be enought to pull pips out of this market

....word on the street changes depending on which corner you standing on.

Maybe China would like to see the US continue to monetize its debt. The eventual result will be the destruction of the USD as the reserve currency. China will keep on buying Treasuries at whatever cost with this ultimate goal in mind.
