If everyone already knows this, why does it have to be done in a dark smokey room? Why not do the deal at Starbucks? They offer free WiFi.

But having a common currency does mean that national banks no longer have instruments at their hands to do what is right for their individual country (look at Spain etc). Now, national policy makers have to ask trichet to act, and as we all know he doesn't do anything

Because that's just not exciting and you don't find out until later that they have purchased the Treasuries. If they did it in public, then we'd all know and they'd then have to buy even more.

Anyway, what's up with this Starbucks? Even if I am desperate for a coffee, that's the last place I go. Why do people rave about Starbucks? I just don't get it

or renting sheep..in the middle of the night. i dont get starbucks either.. most coffee is roasted 40 miles from me.. its all the same shit..unless you get the one the racoon shits..

No I think we probably agree and then some... it's the ongoing misunderstanding between "reserve currency" in the context of the actual discussions currently taking place relative to settlements between CB's, SDR's and so on, and the various currencies we all use on a daily basis.

I believe we will eventually see a global currency OR it's functional equivalent (maybe regional thingy's at some point), Central Banks as we know them will have ceased to exist, and the entire global financial structure will look little if anything like it does today. Just wish I had the TF thing down better.

The only Really Big question is what will FF look like then... I've already extensively pondered this on Maximum Merlot nights...
