EU and GU have had good runs today, outpacing yesterday's ranges. Makes me think there is no more in them today. And if this is part of a trend reversal to down (on large TF chart like the Daily), then isn't the next move (asian session, FO, LO...?) likely to first be a pullback upwards? Comments?

Pivot madness.

I do not have a clue about setting these pivot time zones, I mean are we supposed to set them for each pair? As I am in Japan, if I have a GBP/USD pair do I have to set this for British time, Japan time or what?
And then If I have chf/USD pair do I have to set it for Swiss time?

Anyone got a pivot that does not need the time zone changed or is this not possible?

I have never changed any pivot indi. I doubt the pivot indi's values change dramatically based upon time of day.

And correct me if I am wrong, but MT4 is set to GMT and cannot be changed.

I should know better than to let myself slip into this indicator madness again.

Regarding pivots.....the PivotsDWM indy in post #3349 I gave to Basber prior. It is of the same cloth as the PivotsMonthly and PivotsWeekly indicators I currently use on my charts. I combined the M, W, and Day formulas into one indy that allows user to select which of those three pivot groups to select. I have all three combined into that one indy, and I have all three in separate indys so that I can display all three simultaneously. I have thought about bringing PivotsMWD up to date and modifying it so that any combination of all three could be displayed from that one indy, and that is on my list of things to do.

The SDX-TzPivots indy is still my favorite, as it allows time shifting to align the 24 hour period for the pivot calculations to match that used by the trading sessions with the most volume, i.e. London Open and following. And that means the 24 hour period from midnight to midnight London time.

Rastaman,once you set your time shifted pivot indy (as we posted earlier) you NEVER have to change it. It is valid for all pairs because it is assigning a new 24 hour period to match that used by the biggest group of forex professional traders starting with the London Open. It is not based upon which pairs are traded, but upon what the biggest volume professional traders are using for pivots when they trade.

And ddaytrader is absolutely correct in saying it really makes little difference whether or not you re-align your 24 hour pivot calculation period to match that used by the London Open traders. On any day, PA may seem to respect pivots resulting from one kind of pivot indy, and on another respect pivots from a different calculation period. Pivots can be off several or more pips sometimes, and for scalpers like Cobra (Cobra forex THV) being exacting seems a passion. I spent a lot of time working on the SDX-TzPivots for THV because it offered the time shift code which can make the difference of those several pips for scalpers.

You can use SDX-TzPivots and not shift the time simply by entering "0" for both inputs and never touch it again. That yields the same pivots any regular non-shift pivot indy will provide.

I hope soon to release an upgrade to SDX-TzPivots with more simple line and line label inputs/management, as well as some nice new capabilities.

ddaytrader, MT4 has different servers, some at GMT,some at GMT+2 (+3 DST) and perhaps others too. That is why it is so important when using time shift pivot indys that the user know exactly the timezone their MT4 server is in, and so be able to make the correct inputs to the time zone shift indicator(s)!
