FrankenPip's C4 EA --- Would appreciate help

My results for today (13 winners, 2 losers, 6TP/18SL, E/J, 8:00-18:00 trading, only long, FxPRO). All winners were above SMA(6) and my losers below, which is why I suggested the filter.....

hey dryclean..... i considered the buying at 00, which btw would allow bending the rules..... but realistically speaking, here in this exact case, it is not practical.....

it brings on a host of other obstacales........ clear iron clad rules will paint the truest picture.....h

so this is not following Franks rules . . . but close

Not opening on the 00 is that because of the way of an ea works

I was thinking of trying to trade in direction of VQ indi attached to
5 &/or 15 min charts. May also be another good filter to trade in general direction of current trends.

hey dryclean...... actually i'm not familar with franks rules....... it follows the rules kostas and pardy mention at the begining..... and from what i can tell those rules will be amended more.....


my concern with buying at 00 was.....

with such a small area, 10 pips, the odds are high the bid will be below the 00 line and the ask above at the bars open.... we could easily write an ea that would instantly calculate just what the precentage of times would be....

it's that precentage when you could be attempting to buy between the spread.... which is realistically impratical..... not impossible....

the same above mentioned ea could tell us just how many times the price fell straight away from the open..... so even if we could have bought at 00, the blue bar rule would never have been satisfied.....

yes, if the ask fell to 102, we could put in buystops at 110..... absolutely that would work..... and that could be easily coded..... but why not put them in at 105, 104, or just buy at 102......

we can easily get caught up in the 'why nots' , when we're just rolling dice anyway........

but the bottom line is your absolutely correct, buystops at times could be used...... and may or may not give you an edge...... h

My EA is not actually placing trades either.
I can see the trades under the "experts" tab but it's not actually taking the trades to market.

Hayseed, I always found the long entry troublesome because of spread. I am moving to a 2 pip broker so that will help.
Otherwise I will enter long on the bid not offer so in effect I need 7 pips to profit 5. Or if entering on the offer, it helps if price is 3 pips or lower under entry ie. to enter at 133.50 long then price should have gone down to 133.47 at least or it is too close.

Nice results definitely. You may want to try taking trades in the direction of the Daily Pivot. I've had some great results with it myself trading the manual C4. There is an hourly pivot (and H4 as well) that we may try if we wanted to be more flexible.

I have put the EA on 2 brokers EJ one 3.2 spread and the other 2.2 spread some 15 hours ago, but to date no trades. Had a lot of status messages, Waiting - Potential Sell - Potential Buy
Is anyone else having the same problems getting the EA to trade?
Any suggestions would be very appreciated. What am I missing?

I have had the EA running for almost 24 hrs now. Have had 57 winners and 12 losers. Based on 1lot per trade, we are down just over $1700. Maybe we can move the stop up as if it is heading in the wrong direction right away, might as well kill it.

Looking at other criteria to keep us out of bad trades.

the more i think about it, drycleans buystop idea sounds better and better.....

you know in advance your prefered entry, it's going to be either the top or bottom, depending on direction, of the block...... so why not just place the trades first like dryclean does and let nature take it's course....

you know in advance the movement required to reverse the blocks and you know in advance the movement required to continue the blocks.......

we could easily calculate the average number of bricks per run,which might help with proper sized targets...... h

With a 5 pip TP amd a 10 pip SL, how could you be down over $1,700?

5 * 63 = 315

10 * 12 = 120

315 - 120 = 195.

Did anybody run a backtest on the EA and if so can you post the backtest? I dont want to be the bearer of bad news..

I did and it blow up but I haven't refined the settings

Same here. I recommend to the group to heavily rely on backtests rather than forward tests (at least initially) while we refine its filters. We have to make sure that we have a strategy that is somewhat profitable (at least breakeven expectancy) before moving on to further development.

Maybe an error showing the arrow ?

I saw that too although I'm not a programmer I changed it to ask and the ea didn't work
