Compare the charts to someone tossing a rock into the river. When the rock lands with a splash, we have the one second chart. Then as it moves out in the next seconds the waves or ripples are the 5 second chart. As things settle down we have less noise distraction and the one minute chart. Then of course the 5 minute, 15 minute and hourly chart.

I usually look at the one minute, five minute and 15 minute chart to get the bigger picture while day trading. I however try hard to trade with the trend. I use 3 days more or less for that. If the trend is down, I only go short. I wait until I feel it is near strong resistance short term and then I short it. I short patterns that I see occur during the day in different time zones.

I use Bollinger Bands and Expodential Moving Average with one of my best guides, the SAR or Parobolic Sar. On the next level I use MACD
(Moving Average Convergence, Divergence)

Then I go to Relative Strength Indicator and on Oanda I like to use Awesome Indicator as you can get an idea of volume using that indicator.

Things are quiet for the moment with Dow down 73.30 and EUR/USD holding around 1.4156 with EUR/JPY at 135.92

If EUR/JPY comes down to near 135.50 EUR/USD should move down with it. Watch how USD/JPY does now at 96.01

The yield on the 2 Year US Bonds is now 1.20% and the 10 Year US Bonds are at 3.70% with the spread 250 basis points. Oil is down below $70.00 now and Gold is quiet at $945 US

The US Dollar Index is at 79.113 and holding steady as we near the last hour of trading in North America.

As I write this EUR/USD has dropped to 1.4146 on the bid. Notice how EUR/JPY has dropped as well to 135.79 from 135.92

I hope this post helps some of you learn my style of trading which might or might not suit your personality and that my friends is a whole other subject.

Maybe it's plain luck but I scalped a few pips down because the gap between gold and EUR/USD was relative big and gold was heading south. I took profit when EUR/USD touched the Gold bars.

EDIT: I don't know who's in charge EUR/USD or Gold... I'm just lurking if it's usable.

You could make a picture in Autocad to make it easier

The numbers means the price levels you come up with, like the ones in the above post.

Let's say if we are at 4115 (above), would you look for 1) break-out of 4044 then 3957 then 3817, and 2) break-out of 4178, then 4273 then 4410.

Or

both the break-outs and bounces in the direction of your bias i.e. if you have short bias, would trade break-out of 4044, 3957 & 3817 AND bounces from 4178, 4273 and 4410.

The sale will be held about an hour before the Fed’s meeting finishes, which could result in lacklustre demand for the new notes.
David Ader, head of government bond strategy at CRT, said his research and trading house was “leaning” towards a bearish view of the Treasuries market with a test of 4 per cent yield level for the 10-year note.
“The trading environment is not very liquid, volumes are low and the risk appetite of dealers is also limited,” he said.
Traders face the auction of $37bn in three-year notes on Tuesday and $15bn of 30-year bonds complete this week’s debt sales on Thursday.
While the central bank is expected to reiterate that rates will remain low for an extended period, investors are focused on the outlook for the Fed’s policy of purchasing Treasuries and mortgages.
“Uncertainty about the fate of the Fed’s Treasury purchase program is likely to make investors cautious in bidding for the new 10-year note,” said Lou Crandall, economist at Wrightson Icap.
The Fed has nearly completed meeting its target of buying $300bn in Treasuries, with about $250bn already purchased. But last week, the Bank of England decided to boost its quantitative easing limit. That has some people thinking the Fed could seek to buy more Treasuries in order to keep market rates low.
At its current pace of buying, the Fed’s Treasury programme should finish in six weeks, while the purchase of $1,250bn in mortgages should be completed by the end of the year.

ok when i posted this it was friday.. we were on a move lower after a north spike (head fake) after nfp.. so we were heading south in numbers that were not hit in a few days. the move was solid but not real fast.. so i expected each number to be hit and then a retreat.. 4166 got hit late in the eve on friday so at those times you expect more cosolidation then had it happen at a peak time. it did retreat but the less the retreat the stronger the move. there are other numbers within trends that are good for scalping (red/blue and the others) they are good for scalping but you have to take the time to learn personality. at today range we are between charts the pink chart numbers as well as the blue chart ones are still in play..numbers are a good place to exit on a big move with a long term direction.. you get the best of all worlds as a scalper/day/position trader.. because you see the bus stops and reversal areas.. for instance i posted friday a place 4199 i actually exited my trade there and re-entered at long till 4224 then went short at 4224.... well i really enterd at 42015. because of spread. but by doing this is was up 23.5 X 2 extra pips when lower trend resumed..i did this several times in that move at different places...so on 100 pip move you can get 200 pips sometimes more.. 4148 as said many times is a big number area.. were back here again..we dont get many closes above this.. the draw back is a move can blow past numbers and you dont get a pullback... but thats not really a bad problem.. i only enter on a pullback or play the bounce..

Drag and drop the indicator on the open chart (eg. EUR/USD). In the "Inputs" window that appears you have to enter the SubSymbol property (depends on your broker, take a look at the marketwatch window), usually EURGBP, CHFUSD, but for special symbols (gold, oil) it's more broker depended. You also have the ability to turn "Mirroring" on.

If you need more help, shoot.

I have been Euro bull since February but something feels fishy here. This is starting to look like an increasingly likely scenario.

It would probably be correlated with overdue stock market correction and gold busting the 1000 (physical gold already did, what you see is just $GLD manipulation). I would expect a resumed uptrend around the .38 retrace unless we get a major negative global event.

I know there are a lot of people who believe $ is going to hell because Treasury issues debt and FED buys it but since the stock markets already decoupled from objective reality (bankrupt Maguire rallying? Dish posts 80% profit drop and spikes up 10%? come on, this is roulette), so could the currency markets.
