The move started at about 06:00, trading started at 07:00 and although the entry conditions were valid the signal was not fresh any more. To capture a big trend exit at trix cross.

What happened to the good backtest posts that the few diligent traders started running a while ago? Has that all dried up and are we back to isolated anecdotal forward demo incidents?
Here is a backtest with EA 0.8 and the set from kaizasoze (closeprofit=false) for eurusd M15 from may till today.

what was the exactly set file ? Why closeifprofit = false ? We use true ?
Could you check/backtest my set - see the attatchment.

What is this set based on? Did you backtest it at least from the start of 2009 to prove that it is a viable set?

Thumbs up to you my friend for running this! So this is the best we can do so far it seems.. if one looks at the profits vs the losses we can do no better than breakeven at this point. Correct me if I'm wrong guys.
If it backtests good run it live!

PS: I'm not a backtest fundamentalist.

Not at all buddy..take the car and drive it downtown,out of town.. where-ever you want. Also, I'd suggest making one change..instead of using 1H try using 4H or Daily. You can expect fewer trades.Try to run it and see if it improves the results. Also, check the OB/OS levels..the setting might be too high. You can also try using FastSlowTrixCross = 310 both for opening and closing positions.

Mate I am putting in all I can to improve the set files. May be you can chime in an offer some more insight on improving the losing trades? Something I am missing out altogether?

I've tested it in EURUSD M15.

Thanks for your suggestions. I'm not very good at optimizing set files

Not sure if mine fell into this category but I am currently rerunning Jan-Jun 2009 Backtest on V8 against a few of the best sets files. There does seem to be a few differences between v7 & v8 sets and a bit of tweeking may be required. A quick test of my best v7 set file performed badly in v8 ( Every trade a looser ... ) so I need to review the settings. Probably something simple.

Will definitely give it some deep thought. It is a rather complex EA with a lot of options. One not optimal setting and it can throw us in a bad loop. Since most of us are not experts on the concept of the EA, I recommend that the experts like Cobra or the THV team to guide us. Making recommendations like "change this.. try that" etc. would prove very valuable.
Main question to ask is why does it have so many large losers to wipe out its gains? Does it enter too soon, does it keep the trades for too long and lose the profit? Does it take trend trades and gets killed when the trend turns or the market goes sideways?
These are some of the important questions that we need to answer.. otherwise we are simply spinning our wheels and dreaming ourselves into the unprofitable kingdom...

I won't be very happy in that kingdom. So, thats why I have decided to double up and put some more work on weekends on the trades. I personally think we are getting closer to a profitable set. Just a few more weeks of patience and dedication will surely get us through..need more hands on EA though!

FXSpeedster, if you read some pages back you will notice that I'm a novice in EA's.

Most of you all know much more than I about robs but I try my best.

I know very well how to trade THV but the robot is different because the human intervention and sentiment is missing.

Can I suggest a few things:

1. FastTrixDirection = 310.
2. OppositeSignalExit = True.
3. CloseifProfit = False.
4. Enable Martingale, Lot size =1.5
5. OB/OS Levels of Higher TF ie 30Min
6. Use H4 instead of H1.
7. Use only majors/ with spread under 4.

Hope it should help us reduce some draw down.

I have had THV EA/V8 up and running for a few days now and it is not doing too bad, it did take 2 big hits though. I am running it on the M5 chart with default M5 settings file. I did change the trade times to 0800 to 2000.

Great piece of software THV EA, thanks to all who have put so much time into this.

Right now THV is struggling with a buy it did at 2009, 07, 30 17:10, hope EURUSD starts back up, right now its down 1 pip.

I am a bit surprised there is no discussions on settings here. Seems to me everyone understands every word and combination of settings!
