You will need to change to a non USA broker. However, if you back test this EA as is then you will blow your account in a ranging market. You need to factor in power/trend/news.

i guess news trading is the best way to get the best from this EA. we dont really need to know which direction it is going to, but the most important is the volatility of the currency pair

I guess I'm used to a broker where if you have a long position open and you open an equal-sized position in the opposite direction it closes the trade. This being both long and short never made sense to me anyway.

Is any one still working on this EA?. If so is it possible to add the ability to place an instant order long or short (user define) with the opposite pending order same as the straddle (opposite order will be at the level distance or increment). This changes are for the original mGrid EA

This is a one of good system

Example : Now price GPBUSD : 1.5950
in trend Bullish ( spread 3 )

1) Buy 1.60000 1 LOT TP = 1.6050 SL= 0

2) Sell Limit 1.6047 2 LOT TP = 1.60000 SL = 0

3) Buy Stop 1.5950 1 LOT TP = 1.60000 SL=0

if price goes up to 1.6050 SELL limit 1.6047 executed
n If retrace down again to 1.60000
make Profit Buy + 1 Lot , SELL + 2 Lot n - Buy 1 Lot == 1 LOT+

n if n price still goes up to 1.6100
make BEP because Buy +1 LOT , SELL -2LOT n Buy +1 LoT=0 LOT

Can Some one make this EA from this idea ?

one of my tradeing systems has been a modified version of this math ea. it had a great run for the past 5 months, but current market conditions has affected my profits. currently, my tradeing partners are testing this ea with great results. we've been running it on 2 and 3 levels on the eur/yen. the trick with this ea is that you have to monitor it every hour or so to make sure that it hasnt opened to many orders. for example, if you see 5 orders on the board and there is a profit, you close all orders, so you minimize your risk and star fresh again. in a trending market you can really bank those pips with just 0.1 lots in a standard mt4 acct. is there anyone out there that still uses the original mgrid ea? what are your results? would anyone out there care to test it with us and share their results?

start date: july 20 2009
pairs: eur/yen gbp/usd gbp/yen
levels: 2
lots: 0.1
increments: 28, 28, 35
starting balance: $10,000
ending balance: $11,459

i am running these 3 pairs to test the drawdown, not for the profits. drawdown is the killer with this ea. good results for 2 days. but still early in the testing.

8 hours later since my last post. i am now up to $11,800.00 on a demo acct. same settings and pairs as before. the drawdown has gone as far as $2000 against me. this is a test, so is the reason for using 3 pairs at the same time.

Keep testing, I am watching. Would you mind clarifying which version you are using and are you applying any time filter?

I find it very slow to backtest, seems to be using lots of CPU.

dont backtest. very unreliable. only forward testing. i am using the original version. and i turn it on the weekend just before the opening of the week. no time filters. as of writing, i am up to $11,989.18. i have one open order, and its the cable. i think next week i am going to drop this pair because it has made the least winners and whipsaws to much. and just a side note, when there is a fairly large drawdown, i do manually close the pairs that are in profit. and i let the other play out.

I had been using the original mgrid til recently on demo. It had done well but then had a 50% dd. I have switched to SRmgrid and it is a bit slower on profits but seems more stable. I am doing euro at .03 and yen at .03. Did the same on original mgrid. I am glad to hear of your success. I am not watching during the day or night. I only look at it once in the morning and once in the evening and just let it run. My email is [email protected] A big help is 200% trading level as that reduces margin a lot.

hmmm. i have to take a look at that SRmgrid and try to fit it into my old math strategy. im doing 2 levels. and a friend of mine is running eur/yen and gbp/yen, 3 levels. right now we're dead even as far as profits go. draw down has been the same. if you see a profit, take it. the only reason we can check on it all the time is because we are full time traders. glad to see you back here. i was wondering whatever happened with your mgrid tradeing.

i have now taken off the cable because it has not produced good numbers. at time of writing, drawdown is now at $3500. it does seem that the eur/yen is the better pair to play. gbp/yen is a big mover, but so is its whipsaws.

What success have you had with the SR-version? I tried the original before, but as you point out, I quit because the DD was too big. What pairs are running best?

my demo went to crap. there was a big drawn on my acct before i left home today. when i got back the gbp/yen took profit, but my acct was down by $8000. i dont know what happened, but i couldnt get into the ea properties. something happened. ill start the testing all over again. hmmm, there maybe a problem with the math built into the ea. i dont know. but ill start it all over again. dammit. but my tradeing partners are still running their test. they are up over $12,500.00 for the week. for all of you out there please demo first.

I've been running my own version of mgrid on a live account for a while and not had any problem with it.

The key is not to get greedy and keep you lot sizes small in comparison to the equity.

I start at the weekly open and look for 4 sequence closes before shutting it down regardless of wether that happens on a wednesday or thursday. I never leave any trades open going into the weekend.

I am running it on GU and EY. For GU i am using 0.04 lot size and for EY i am using 0.01. My starting equity was $6k. On average i am netting $4-500 per week.
