is a labeled trendline still required with trendline_watch=false with 1.5c when trying to test full auto?

Hi,
I'm working on version 1.5d that do exactly what you refer to. This new version will allow us to have stop loss and still keep the takeprofit option.
I will make it so that we can turn this option on or off.

I am also working on a new stoploss option that will adjust itself dynamically to the market conditions. I still have some bugs in it but the initial results seem pretty encouraging. This will also be an alternative to trade with the new Forex rules starting in August.

I will post it when the code will be stable. Don't have a lot of time to work on that for now.

Yes you need label trendline with trendline_watch=false or true.

If you don't want to trace trendline, you need to set variable TrendAnalysis=false.

In the past we have test it and it does not produce consistant good results over a long period of time. If you find a set of variable that is working in different market condition, let us know.

Of course: FB 1.C standard settings with exception: TP:50, Trigger:20,
TS true:20, both trendlines MDTA and MUTA are together in the same chart ( I haven't had any problem with this so far...). I don't think this is the optimal setting and trying another ones.

Few of you guys run fully auto firebird. It seems it works best in good sideways market, and when breakout happens and starts trending, we switch to long or short.

This may be a good way to go IMHO

Are you saying that by not using trend analysis (trendline) that the EA does not perform well?

How long did you test for?

Hi all
Unfortunately it's impossible to backtester this EA with trendanalysis=true.
Here is the results 2009 with trendanalysis=false.
So we have to use the EA with trendanalysis=true to perform.

Is trendanalysis set to false for you? If it's not, then do you draw the trend line for each graph manually?

Those who are getting all wins with little losses and are using fully automated strategy... you must be using trendanalysis set to false? Otherwise you have to draw a maintrend line and it is semi automatic in that case. Which is the case?

TheGabriel or ayoneeyee care to explain?

Gasgas said it's best to use during sideways trend, so should limit
the ea's time to the Asian time session?

I think you are right gasgas. From my experience last week, when the market was trending, the EA did not perform as well as when the market is consolidating. Semi-auto trading will be good for trending market.

I wanted to backtester only the Asian session with trendanalysis false.
Unfortunately it's impossible : I'm thinking the open and close hours of the EA are not working correctly.

Well the only loss i hav was on GBP-USD and that day all the trades together for this pair with loss too, It still have been profitable for a few pips. For that day yes the loss canceled the profits. I will probably raise the TP to at least 50 pips, but the trailing doesn't seem to work.

Gabriel, your results are impressive, however i cannot seem to duplicate those stats. Are you using version 1.3a and please re-post your settings. Cheers!! Also, do you just start the Ea at the open of the next day, and let run for the duration, or do you turn on the Ea at the London/and or US open?

I use the same settings ayoneeyee shared posts ago, except made for take profit and sl wich is now 40 pips as TP and 300 as SL for me.

I'll have to test and see how it goes, we still have to face a trending market.

Trendanalysis=true,
both MainTrendLines are together in a Monthly chart, drawn manually.

An update for the automatic EA guys, I'm getting back to semiautomatic, will continue to test full automatic EA but it works good for ranging markets, not trending ones, so we must make it work the semiautomatic way anyway.

I'd like to know how gasgas or samuraipower are doing, are you guys on? And any other friends doing it semiautomatic, real or demo trading, please specify too.

I think it's a good way, right now i just disable the ea and don't let it trade when I can't find the trade for the day (the semiautomatic way). Maybe I'll try to find the day trade and when I'm not able and seems in range I'll let it trade both long and short.

I'll let you know the results. For the semiautomatic way I'll set 50 PIPS TP, the automatic way 30 PIPS.

Any further ideas? I've set the Ea to trade from 8 to 21 as open and close hours, you other guys are just doing default with 0-24?

Hi everybody, this is my first post

I have noitced this EA a while ago and it looks like a great thing!
Unfortunately, i never managed to try it and I don't understant why it doesn't work.

I opened a demo account on fxpro with a 1000$. Then i have downloaded Firebird-v63H04_Heiken_Ashi_Trend_vs1_3b. All the settings are from this post: http://www.forexfactory.com/showpost.php?p=2714301&postcount=1280

What I have changed is:
Lots: 0.01

Maybe I should change something else because the EA doesn't open any position at all and I even can't backtest it because it shows no results. I've tried to backtest it like it says in the first post (maybe second) but still 0 opened positions. Can somebody help me??

P.S. English is not my default language, so sorry if it is confusing

i found these in the doc in this thread "Instructions for Setting Up and Operating Firebird - June 1 2009.doc"

so if i want to have the EA start trading long on a break of a horizontal trendline (resistance) when in a range i would use #???

i tried various combinations below in strategy tester but, i ended up with buys and sells opening in the test when i only wanted long. i had trendline_watch=true. should trendanalysis be on too by the way for a scenario where i only wanted to initiate trading on the break of a trendline? i tried first with it on and it wouldn't open any trades in this scenario so i turned it off and it started trading but, i got some sell trades when i didn't want any.

i'm using v 1.5c

it would be helpful if there was a quality document created and maintained that covered the evolving trendline syntax and trade examples. i have seen A LOT of people having to ask these specific questions.

1. Alert_30: If price action come close to this trend by 30 pips by either side.
2. DownTrend_Alert_ :If price action come above this trendline
3. UpTrend_Alert_: If price action come below this trendline
4. UpTrend_Close_Alert_: Same as 3 but will close all open buy order
5. DownTrend_Close_Alert_: Same as 2 but will close all open sell order
6. UpTrend_Trade_Alert_30: Same as 3 but will initiate a sell trade if price action go 30 pips below the uptrend
7. DownTrend_Trade_Alert_30: Same as 2 but will initiate a buy trade if price action go 30 pips above the downtrend.
8. UpTrend_Close_Trade_Alert_30: Will close all buy trade before doing 6
9. DownTrend_Trade_Alert_30: Will close all sell trade before doing 7
