Paulus,
I see that you are taking trade as soon as the 5m and 15m/30m being the same color, is it advisable to wait for 5m and 15m to be the same color, bcus sometimes 15 mins still in retracement and there are chances that it might go the other way.

Hi All,

Has anyone else noticed that the HG MTF indicator repaints some of the past boxes? I've had it happen on the last 2 trades I've taken on the 5M chart. On each trade either the 15 or 30 minute box was not in agreement with the 5M box and then changed after the fact to agree with the 5M box. I noticed this after the close of the 30 minute candle that 2 previous boxes on the 30 miute row changed to agree with the 5M row. Again, I was under the impression that the indicator did not repaint boxes on closed candles. Have I missed something in the thread???

Attached you will find an actual snapshot of the 5min EUR/USD chart.
The white vertical line marks the entry point.

1. 15min and 30min are blue
2. TG indicator bar switched to blue

=> Long signal

I think Paulus sliding stop loss is different from TG's?

Paulus will move stop loss whenever the angle has "changed" it's direction.

While TG will move stop loss to the previous horizontal TM when current TM marked a new horizontal line.

Am I on the right track?

Yes, you missed answer. It was been in this thread minimal two times. For third and last: Repainting is normal behavior of ANY MTF indicator. For example: If you run onto M5 timeframe, you got three boxes of M15 one, six boxes on M30 and twelve boxes on H1. In this way as price goes up and down indicator, both STF and MTF changes value (colour). But, the indicator remember position on CLOSE the candle on the higher TF. So, if price was on the edge of colour, for example you got on M15 blue, red, blue (and for the last blue candle M15 was closed and you got new one), indicator war remember only THIS position, NOT the progress of ONE candle. Understand it? (I'm soory, my Engl. is poor)

Overall trend for this pair appears to be down, however set up for buy appears to be developing.

Any thoughts on taking it.

I am new to Metatrader platform. Can anyone list set by step instructions on how to download and then install indicator into Metatrader ? Your help would be greatly appreciated .

Hi Horrigan,

I didn't really understand what you are trying to tell me. I understand that most MTF indicators repaint at least 2 candles prior to the current candle, that is when the current candle closes the last 2 closed candles are subject to change depending on the location of the close on the current candle. I thought I read a post by TG that she had resolved the repainting issue. I will go back and re-read the thread again.

Hi EZ...

Copy and paste the indicator into the expert/indicator folder in the MT4 directory. If your MT4 platform isn't closed, close it after you have copied the indicator into the <indicator> directory and then reopen the platform. The indicator should show up in the navigator list under the view function.

Simply download the indicator (no matter for this time what .ex4 or .mq4), then copy it to C:\ Program files \ your_broker_Metatrader \ experts \ indicators . Restart the platform, and you will see it (by name) in Navigator \ custom indicator or get Insert \ indicators \ custom. That's all So simple

OK, good idea to re-read this thread. I try to explain you simpler. So. If you ride the M5 timeframe, MTF indicator represent ONE M15 candle by three boxes. But as price changes, may change position (or colour) of indicator. But indi doesn't remember where was a PARTIAL position indicator (on half-of-time one 15M CANDLE (5th-10 th minute, for example) and remember ONLY close position (on 15th minute of candle, while you get new one) Other 1st - 5th and 6th-10th minute MAY repaint, but it's doesn't matter (IMHO). Understand it better? repainting is possible two M5 candles back on M15, five candles back on M30 ones, etc. MORE NOT, it have not reason for doing it

This is what I was under observation since y'day, this looks good, even though, sometimes you get losses, but the winners are big. This works better with SL of 10-15 pips max depending on the pairs and spread.
Looks good on EUR/USD and GBP/USD, not on GBP/JPY, for other pairs, I haven't spend time yet ......

Hi all,
I have made about 122.9 pips last night (+166, - 43.1), trading end of Asian and first 1/2 hour of UK session. I am from FL, which EST time zone, so its hard for me to awake whole night and go back to work the next day. I could have make more, if I was awake little more, but thats enough for now...24.9 pips out of 43.1 I loose, was completely my mistakes, as may be I was in a sleep.....

170 on Gu today; several mistakes on other trades but a big winning day so far; need a patience and discipline indicator.

Man, it took a while to catch up reading this thread.

Maybe a skype chat would be indicated to reduce the thread chat since we seem to be focused and play well together.
