It needs to complete first. I have forgotten the amount of times I have seen an apparent H&S fail to materialise but it has been many many times. Probably the same for us all.

It means I have set my stop loss to my entry price, effectively eliminating all risk from that individual trade...

The GJ spread is relatively wide. Does this impact your trading?
No, in relation to volatility the spread can almost be ignored.
I have traded GJ with 20 pip spread last quarter of 2008 when markets where crazy and that even didn't make a difference.
Only I played with smaller entries at that time.
I changed to EU just because I would like to get used to bigger lots. But now I'm trading all 3 of them, EU, GU and GJ.
Let me know how your testing turns out. Also on GJ.

I'd like to see price reaching 1.4250 before shorting the H&S...
I need more space otherwise price is running into support to fast before I can move SL to BE

Last night (starting 12 hours ago) if you went short you would have had 3000 pips in 12 hours.

I think you may have missed the train on that one. If it gets to 1.4250 it would probably go much higher.

Yes Shamu. I used to get .05 or .1 minimum but upto 10% and once 14% as rainfall. But risk was great. Now I have balanced this to straight 1% to 2% with .75 to 1% max risk. This however requires more precision. It is not like old days i.e. enter anywhere and then manage position and r/r with balance lots in hand as market takes shape. Now I have to judge the moves and use technical tools, which I hate. But for the sake of risk managment....

I dont think so,... nothing really special about it. Many traders who use stop losses are putting their SL to BE once they consider it as far enough from current price, whatever that means depending on their trading style.

I was trading gold and oil with another company... Love it.. Easy to make pips if you get the trend right. I am waiting for FXCM to bring in commodities which I am told will be any day now.

Oil is a lot harder than gold I find and can change 400 pips in a matter of minutes. Ive made some good pips on it but taken a few good hits as well.
