Why do you have 5 accounts?
Sometimes I get reckless and try to bet whole farm. Therefore I normally use only one account at a time. Start with the account that has minimum balance in it. Bring it to some level, then move to next lowest balance account. This is only first and last time I have used all my accounts for a move (on different pairs) as I wanted to make enought that would provide adequate margin for one account. The objective is achieved. Now I will only use my account with least balance. It is difficult to fight with your nature, therefore you have to have some control to protect your money from yourself. Plus, you cannot rely on efficiency of one broker. If their platform is tuck, you are stuck.

I guess there must be a logical reason for it but I can't think what it is at the moment. I have a couple of accounts because I don't trust brokers but that's it.

It is very simple, if you only use one account for a whole week. Consider others as backup or reserve accounts.

Notch, my margin ratio in most accounts is 1:20. Only one account has 1:50 ratio. This is yet another control.
Any margin above this level is for punters.
