I hope your false sense of security keeps you all warm and kozy since that's all it is, real world??? hardly...hedging is an excellent tool and just because you cant wield it does'nt mean others don't profit from it....

Suppose you enter a "long" trade. But it soon whipsaws against you, and suddenly you are in loss and things look precarious. Simply and immediately enter a "short" trade for the same size. You have now protected your account from any further loss no matter what the PA does. You have also prevented the ability to make profits while this "insurance" hedge is in place.

When later you see the PA has exhausted its move against your original trade, close the short trade. It has profits...

I stopped hedging after I went -150 to +50 pips in a few hours. I got out of it ok, but I learned my lesson. Having said that, I have two trading accounts at different brokers. If I really wanted to hedge I would just open an opposing trade in the other broker. I also have the benefit of protecting myself in case my primary broker goes down for some reason. I can always open an opposing trade in the other broker to protect my primary trade.
Must have a lot of $ to open two accounts....very hard to manage....hedging is easier for ME and uses less margin....

I'll take the losses anytime they come and i do a lot but i have more good trades than bad ones. Hedging provides YOU with a sense of security while reducing your equity in the process and making you hope, not taking losses.

GL to YOU too

PS. tell me how do you hedge stocks, futures,, etc , if you do, bcs you will do the same in forex soon, try to learn how is done first.

About the hedging stuff.... I think it's bull**** which i said before ... i think a week ago or so...
the thing is what are they going to take away next... candlesticks, MA, ....what everything but the $ line and you just get to guess!!! it's horse s****!!!
sorry, just very upset by it... like i said before I don't try and leave a trade in but it has saved my account at one point and so I'm very much for having the option of doing so...

stocks are more crooked than forex....I traded for a few years at 4:1 buying power and oh and it gets better when your broker won't let you short $5 and under stocks....no thanks, Hank!

p.s. when you hedge you don't lose any money at all as long as you cover the spread...which offsets itself to a lesser degree.....study and you will learn...http://www.forexfactory.com/images/icons/icon6.gif

SERIOUSLY HEDGING ON ACCOUNTS BASED IN THE USA FROM 15TH MAY 2009 IS STOPPED.

Check the NFA thread or something, accounts out side of the USA will likely be forced to follow suite sooner or later.

Pure Hedging doesn't make sense, but 2 trades, 1 a scalp, 1 a intraday trade in opposite directions to take advantage of chop sounds a handy tool to me.

Dont matter- open more than one acc, also protects against REFCO happening lol
