DislikedFor forex trading to replace the day job one would need minimum starting capital of $300,000 or £200,000. Risking that amount with your local friendly broker is problematic considering many go bust or simply disappear.
Also if the average spread on trades is 2 pips and average pips per trade (winners and losers) is 50pips, then we have to make over 8% just to get past the spread! (because the winning trades also have to pay the spread on the losing trades).
Thats not easy.

The spread is inevitable part of trading, no different to commission on other market forms. The only time it is of major concern is to scalpers due to there activity in the market. Longer term traders wash the spread off without even thinking about it. Im sure the 50 pip risk would be of more concern than the 2 pips spread.
