Hi All

Does anyone of you know if there is a version of Firebird which has incorporated an automatic halting of trades when a loss occurs?

If nothing like this has been thought of - and if people think it is a good idea - could somebody code it?
Ignored
See post #647, that version has that option, also MM and maxopen positions, but how that works didn't look into it yet.

Hi Samurai,

I have read your posts with great interest.

I would like to try it out, but it is not clear which version of Firebird you are using. Can you clarify and if possible supply links where to download it together with the necessary indicators (and maybe a reminder of your latest settings).

I have been testing Firefox 63G for some time have have been having trouble with excessive drawdowns. I have also been trying opening two charts of the same pair, one using the EA on "buy only" and the other on "sell only" hoping to produce a hedging effect when the market is trending. So far, not too successful.

Many thanks in advance

Cheers

im using fxpro, but i think what makes the ea give an excessive lost alert is becouse u drive the to the wrong direction, improove your skill and u will not get that alert, i think this ea sholud work on familiar broker, just adjust the setting.

update on semiauto.
i learn GU behavior more than other, despite my template or thv templat, i think it still gonna continue down this week, and my prediction is right, if monday still gives an up move, i assumed not more than 300pips up move, then on tuesday the price might run out gas, as u can see on...

What rules did you use to go short on the GBPUSD. The news announcement caused the GBP to dive this morning. Did you see something yesterday to make you go short on the pound?

Under the THV template rules the fast trix has to cross the zero line after a cross up on the 1HR Chart. The GBPUSD fast trixed crossed on 3/16/09 but had not confirmed the uptrend by crossing the zero line. That might have kept one from going long at that point. Also on the 4hr GBP chart with the THV template the trix cross down below the zero line at the 4 GMT time on 3/18/09. That could have been early warning to close all long GBP trades if you were long.

What do you think?

Samurai,

I have been studying yr drive system.

From my understanding, Firebird is built to profit from trades in BOTH directions, opening trades when it feels the trend is changing.

By driving the EA in a single direction, say we drive long in a DAILY CHART UPTREND, we will be missing out on profitable sell trades in a retracement in a 5M chart !!

Will our overall profit be lower compared to leaving the Firebird to open up trades as it sees fit???

Hi Namrettik,

I wasnt looking my template or THV template for taking short since monday, I ignore it for a while and take GBPUSD behaviour as my descicion, I think that major down trend is still intach, it moves down spescially in early of the week, and its near major trend line..

Many thanks Samurai,

All is in place and working except the "fb template.tpl". I copied it into the templates folder (it is there), but metatrader doesn't see it (it isn't in the list when I click on "load template"). BTW, all the files in the template folder are with the .mqt extension.

To save my looking back over hundreds of posts, can you tell me which pairs to use, on top of the eur/usd and gbp/usd?

Thanks

LOL wow do I have bad luck. Just closed all my Gbp/Usd buy orders at 2:13 pm E.S.T. taking a loss on all 4 of them because all indicators were pointing to a downward trend from what I could tell, 2 min later it shot up 150 pips. A 600 pip mistake! (took 400 pip loss on the 4 orders, all 4 would have hit the TP of 50)

I am assuming there was a news release. Any of you get nailed with open GU sell orders here?

Arghhhhh

Ps. Was I the only one who missed the pending drop in GBP/USD yesterday as well, lol? I guess I need to take my eyes off the Daily charts once in a while and switch down to the 4H, 1H.

Hi Samurai, so just to be clear you switched your EA for GU to "Short Only" based on the 4H indicator on the 17th? You did this despite Daily chart was still showing uptrend on the HA candle with no downward shadow, and the other Daily indicators were still pointing to an uptrend?

Just seems as though maybe the 4H is the better indicator to base your decisions on. For the last 30 hours or so I kept my GU set to "long only" based on the Daily indicator, however if I had been basing my decision on the 4H I probably would have at least turned it off 1.5 days ago. This morning woke up with one SL hit and 4 others on the way down. Daily alone was pretty misleading on this one.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Anyone have any suggestions how to react to new annoucements. I thought our Stoploss was for that purpose. My experience is that news announcements like employment numbers are reacted to but generally retrace like that of the GBP.

I closed all my positions for a 400 pip loss as well. Should we wait for the next daily candle before we make that decision or just close them when the HA candle changes color even though it is just intra day change of color. As in the case of the GBP it was white then red then back to white. Any suggestions?

First I would to thank SamuraiPower for his insight and hard work into this system that has so far for me produced 700 + pips in just the last 3 days.
I am using SamuriePower’s original version and have been running long on both the EUR/USD and GBP/USD. I do have one question Samurai
Can you tell me what drives the EA to take the first trade when it is first activated. The reason I ask is because earlier this morning I shut the EA down anticipating what I thought may be a trend change .
I have since re-started the EA (in the long position only) with a clean slate, but it has yet to place any trades…………..

Again Thank You for the great work
