Hello everybody!

May I ask you older gurus.. what do you think of this guy ALG? He was posting his calls here on this thread for some time, then he moved to his own site. It's paid site now. It would be interesting to subscribe but I am afraid of a absolutely total scam. My reason is this:

I tried to re-play his calls for January or December (I can't remember now). And I found a little problem there. He was always posting calls for 7 USD pairs. Some of these calls worked, some went wrong for 100-200 pips. He never mentioned how far he put stops just 'buy near' or 'sell near'. Later he posted some "follow up" trade management for those calls that worked.

The problem I see with his calls is this. It is very easy to identify POTENTIAL pivot points (previous highs / lows / midpoints / etc.) Some of them will work ... and the crowd will follow and will call him genius / prophet / whatever...

When none of the calls worked (I think it was early or mid December), ALG would disappear and then re-emerge with his new calls.......

o.k. it's time to stop this ranting

If anyone joins his new group it would be interesting to hear now things go there

EUR/USD remains bearish. NY Session to open in about 20 minutes (8 am ET).

We have reports at 8:30 Empire State Mfg Index, and 9:00 TIC.Long Term Purchases. These should move prices some.

My stop on remaining 1/2 long position from 1.2609 is at b/e. I think I'll be stopped. IMO EUR/USD want to go lower, before rising.

To all those traders who are looking for gurus, signals etc. etc:

Best way to trade is to learn to trade. You can take calls from others. But chances are your emotions will get in the way and you will over the long hall end up with net loss. Learn to trade yourself and you will have the confidence to place trades, know why you are taking a position and will be able to manage it as the prices move in real time.

Don't pay for calls dude. Take the time to learn it for yourself. It isn't hard, just takes time and practice (like everything else in life).

exactly if something changes you can adjust without waiting for some else to make the call that may never come in time..you know why you got in a trade and can see if that changes yourself..

[WAL-MART] reports Q4 sales up 1.7%, with sales for all of fiscal 2008 up 7.2% over fiscal 2009 - a clear slowing late in the year. Net revenues for Q4 of 96 cents/share, adjusted to $1.03/share vs a Reuters median estimate of 99 cents. Q1 estimate is 77 cents/share.


Further to this morning's [UK JAN CPI] data we note that today's not quite as weak as expected figures are due to some special factors. The volatile transport costs provided the largest downward pressure to CPI with household furniture, strangely, adding to y/y infl and to core CPI (to 1.3% from 1.1%). We suspect this will be unsustainable given the state of the housing market. Further, while high street discounting continued into Jan it was not as steep as in Dec, which could result in lower than expected retail sales later this week (Fri). Also, utility prices have not had a big downward impact yet, but should as energy companies pass on lower fuel costs. In sum, as consumer spending weakens further, base effects kick in and special factors unwind we expect CPI to turn negative later this year. In any case, Jan's CPI is unlikely to change BoE/MPC thinking, with QE and rate cuts still likely in Mar.

First US number of the week is an absolute shocker of -34.65. FX markets initially non-moved, as players decide whether to buy risk aversion, therefore the [USD], or sell the US economy. Just before the data, we heard of European central bank as well as semi-official supply into the 1.2630 zone. However, that 1.2600 option structure mark and reported good bidding interest still holding for now. On balance, we still see further downside tests and a stop hunt below.

[EMPIRE SURVEY - BAD OUTLOOK MEASURES] The 6 months ahead measures in the Empire State survey are not as bad, on a simple numeric basis, as the current measures, but they are catching up. The business conditions index for 6 months out fell to -6.56 in February from -3.95 in January after running strongly positive till them. Pricers paid -2.30 vs +4.55, prices received -9.20 vs +5.68. Orders improved but remained contractionary at -4.31 vs -8.30 and shipments turned positive at +1.86 vs -7.29. Employees -29.35 vs -11.36. Despite the expectation of improved shipments and less bad orders, the expectation of falling prices for goods produced and of more rapid layoffs suggest both a reason to reduce activity, and the intention to do so.

We were witnesses to one more attack at 2602 and again its bouncing back north. We had good info from EU (GER) and now we had some bad news from US, NYSE is openning in almost 10 minutes, maybe after it opens EURUSD moves more. At the moment i`m feeling confused, its moving 20 pips each side and its hard to make a good entry.
