Guys-

A few notes based on emails that I’ve received and seen over the last couple of days.

1)Please don’t open an account with us right now with the intent of using Metatrader. As the OnLine Application states, that is for Navigator only. We are currently in Beta in MetaTrader only, which requires a specific process that five people use to get set up (and then another 5, and then another 5).

2)At this time, we have hundreds of applications for Live Beta testing, so we have enough people to work with. Thank you for your interest.

3)You can still get a Demo to play with, and we have several hundred running, although at any time, we might put a hold on the Demo sign-ups. Contact MBT University to get a demo username/password. Be prepared for the fact that we do code updates to Demo at any time, so it WILL go down occasionally, and this might mess up existing orders.

4)Several people have asked about the live versus demo spreads, and I already posted this one response (link to 2889). But additionally, let me state this. I saw someone say last night that “your Meta Demo is showing 6 pip spread on the EUR/GBP, but the live quotes on the website are almost always 1-2.” After you read the response that I already wrote, let’s please make sure that everyone understands this. We have thousands and thousands of customers trading on the live Nav platform, and ALL of their limit orders reflect into the quote, and of course, active traders are constantly throwing up limit bids and asks around the current price of the market. That’s the benefit of using an ECN…that you get all of that extra liquidity from the other traders. Those orders are real orders and can’t be routed into the Demo system. So yes, the Demo quotes, which are essentially just the banks and bigger liquidity pools, are what they are, but the live quotes on the site are very real and are what you would see with a live Meta or Nav account.

5)Please don’t ask when Metatrader is coming off of Beta. Beta is a live testing process that allows us to look for bugs that might come up from a certain style of trading, to spot issues with EAs and MQL, to make sure that our trade desk and other departments are prepared to handle issues that come up, etc. We aren’t going to be on Beta next week and Live the week after. It could be six weeks, it could be three months, if that’s what it takes to make sure that we are 110% confident in the system itself, but also in our ability to support the expected numbers. We wouldn’t be going into Beta if we weren’t comfortable with where the system is at from an execution perspective, but there are many other considerations beyond that.

6)Midnight maintenance does not exist in Meta Demo, but it currently does exist in Meta Live Beta. Before Meta comes off of Beta, we expect that midnight maintenance will no longer exist across the board for all Nav and Meta environments.

7)When Meta comes off Beta, historic data will be available in the software, the on-line application will allow for a Metatrader option (yes, you need a separate account), and the proxy issue for corporate firewalls will be resolved, among other items that people have asked about.

8)If anyone has a group of traders that would like us to discuss Meta with them in a webinar format to help answer questions and spread them to the community, please let me know.

Okay, that might be the issue. Earlier last week we were experiencing problems with that page and some of the messages weren't received.

Was your issue resolved ever by a Live Helper rep or phone?

Keep getting this error in Firefox 3.0.5

When I was trading here, it costs GBP10 round trip for 100K GBPUSD, EUR10 round trip for 100K EURUSD. Even a friend who trades more than 50M daily in volume paid this much commission.

With the numerous "lower commissions" in the market, is there any changes in MBT's commission?

hey dude, I use ADSL 4M. FF filies open for me while MBT like snail loading...

I don't care whom you are working for, I just say my own opinion: the new website SUCKS. Why don't your guys put a poll here or somewhere to see whether majority of people like it or not?

The competetion in this bussiness is overwhelmingly intense, my words seems harsh to you but please keep in mind if I don't like MBTF why bother posting here.

My guess is the rollout of MT4 (and other changes) are planned as the type of retail 'value add' that to them, might justify keeping the higher rate. If so, that's a shame, because with MT4 along with the recent spread tightening, they could reasonably corner the marketplace if they simply dropped inline with the other guys on commissions.

Why use the MT4 RSA key? No other broker uses it and nobody complains about account security. Seems like you're addressing a problem that really doesnt exist "If it ain't broke....."

just thought i would let you all know...

live account mb trading just traded through my eurgbp stop (not fast market) it played through and back both bid and ask at my stop level without following through with the action. i was forced to close the order and place a cash order.. Justin this is just another example of how wonderful your service has become over the last year.. great show chaps. keep it up... ill be taking my business elsewhere if i do not get a proper explenation and refund of lost points... you guys really do a top notch job of matching orders and keeping clients happy...

The error message you are getting relates to the forex quotes on the site and the way that Ajax delivers the quotes (the flashing quotes box). It seems to only occur with Firefox and is being addressed, but it is not a security issue.

New to MB trading, do have the MT4 demo with no issues. Don't know anything about a RSA key? Not an issue with my demo account. How do I know it's even in use?

I have a live account with IBFX and the MBT demo performs just as good with seemingly better trading results. The spreads are slightly better, a pip here and there, so what's up with the high commissions? I couldn't get the ATC demo to load, I guess that would be the alternative.

Why do you not have the commissions shown in the demo account? This would give the trial trader a feel, as many like myself have never paid a forex commission. On a carry trade I have a few times, but the other brokers reflect this in their demo.

Maybe it's still too early to reflect the commissions in the demo, hey?

I was sorta sold on this but not if the commissions are going to be out of line.

Reminder: Live quotes are tighter than demo due to customers live limit orders posted for all to see. For those on demo that are noticing the difference, here is a screen shot of a live account and the website side by side.

Please look at your account history tab in the metatrader demo. You should see the commissions are shown clearly and included.

The opening commission is also shows on your trade tab while the trade is open.
