Merlin: Where can we meet at the Expo? Do we just look for a little guy with a white beard, white hair and a blue hat? Seriously, if you have a meeting place in mind, it would be nice to get together.

No, I am not staying there but I will be attending most of the paid workshops and in the Exhibit Hall from time to time. Four of us will be coming in from Southern California and we hope to meet some of the folks from the Forex Factory.

I'll be there. Got my tickets, got my room, got my education package, ready to go. Merlin, I like craps too. Just the basics, nothing fancy. Man I'm looking forward to it! Hope to meet some of you guys there.

Does anyone know of a Fx-broker or other source to get comp.
tickets to the Forex Expo. next mo.? I am referring to tickets
for admission to the conferences that costs $349 after 10/31.

If you can make it to the hotel, you may be surprised at how you can get into the seminars/classes (whatever) without "tickets." I went to a Trader's Expo in Chicago and during a break I kinda wandered into the room where Steve Nison was speaking. He passed by me to get refreshments from a table and I asked for his autograph. He gave me an autographed copy of his book, and I stayed for the rest of the seminar. So just show up if you can't get tickets, you never know what'll happen in Vegas! I can't wait but I'll have to anyway!

Merlin - why not have an organized get together for FF members, maybe dinner the night before the Expo? I think it would be great!

:siren: Here's a transportation tip if you've never been to Vegas: Use the CAT Bus. You can get a "day pass" for $5.00(unless they've gone up) from the bus driver. Cabs are too expensive. If you're not staying at Mandalay Bay, the CAT Bus runs up and down the STRIP all day and into the night.

:siren: Be sure to go see "The Fremont Street Experience", and the fountains at the Belagio. Both take place at night when the Expo is closed. You can pretty much walk to the Belagio from the hotels on the strip, but take the CAT Bus to Fremont Street.

i was thinking about doing that. i agree it would be awesome! only problem i have is that i cant 100% commit to that weekend yet because of some other business i have late november. i already bought a few expo tickets and reserved hotel so im kind of committed already, but id hate to agree to meet with everyone and then have to bail.

dont let that stop you from organizing a group here to meet up at the event though! i bet there will be a ton of FF members going.

Any one know when and where the forex expo is going to be?? In In Los Angeles.. so any idea??

I got a brochure in the mail... Las Vegas as I recall.
But I thought the line up of speakers was somewhat weak.
Threw out the brocure.

For anyone who has been to the Forex Expo before and attended
the 1 hr. seminars, is the $349 admission price worth it?

I believe this is the first Forex Expo if its kind. It's a spinnoff from The Trader's Expo. The Trader's Expo is geared more towards stocks, futures, options ... but the Forex Expo is Forex specific. I'm sure you've heard the expression, "Successfull people will do what unsuccessfull people won't do." Well, just replace "people" with "Forex traders" and go from there. Ask yourself if $349.00 is worth listening to live professionals discuss the very topic that you want to learn about.

Personally, I'm so committed to excel in the Forex market and determined to become a professional trader that as soon as I saw the offer about the Expo, I bought the package for the earlybird price and booked my rooms. I say rooms because my wife will be with me in one room and my daughters will have another. They'll see the sights while I'm at the seminars then we'll have the night time together. We got rooms at the Sahara for $88.00 per night which ain't bad. Hey man, it's only a credit card and you can't take it with you when you die!

Have fun all that are going...hope you win at the casinos, take in a show and do whatever else you might fancy!

I attended the Forex Expo in Las Vegas last weekend and it was
fantastic! Here is a list of some of the presentations I attended
with some of the comments made by the speaker I thought
were relevant.
1) Ed Ponsi: No one strategy is going to work all the time. You need
different approaches depending on market conditions. One day chart
is the road map to determine trend. You will usually do better if you
follow your plan (don't listen to the little voices in your head). Better
to trail stops manually. Judge your trades by how well you planned
them, not by the results. USD/JPY is his favorite pair to trade. For
trading news, many traders make the mistake of basing their trades
based on the headline number instead of taking into consideration
the underlying numbers. For example, the Civilian Unemployment Rate
drives the NFP. The NFP is the single most devistating event for most
traders "bar none". Interbank participants have been known to pull
their quotes at the time of the announcement. This is why most
market makers do not guarantee stops. Does not recommend trading
news.
2) John Bollinger: Can use tick volume as an indicator with forex trading. Your trading program may not work with different brokers. If your trading system stops providing reliable signals, the problem may be due to a change your broker made to their system and they do not always notify their customer of this.
3) David Floyd: Never, ever, mix time frames after you enter a trade. For example, if you enter a trade using a 30 min. chart, do go looking at a 60 min. chart to justify if you should stay in a trade or exit. His favorite time frames
for swing trading are 60 & 240 min. charts, and for longer term, daily and weekly charts. He is coming out with a real time correlation indicator. GT 80 RSI does not mean go short, and LT 20 RSI does not mean go long. The trend takes precedent. Important to use stoch. divergences. Overbought stoch. can become more overbought. Break of trendline that has been tested and held 3 times has far more important weight. The root of all price points both entry and exit is a fib#. Stoch. usually precedes price action. Before placing a trade he compares the 60M and 240M charts and usually 60M is an indicator of which way the trend is going.
4) Kathy Lien (FXCM): Currency crosses offer trading opportunities. Currency markets hate political instability. Trading GBP/YEN is like trading Google - more volatility. The greater the interest rate differential of countries, the greater the range for the corresponding currency pairs (such as USD/JPY). Interest rate compression is the main reason the EUR/USD is down. The following currency pairs are usually strong trending: EUR/USD, USD/CHF, USD/JPY, GBP/USD. The following currency pairs are usually range bound: EUR/CHF, EUR/GBP, GBP/CHF, GBP/JPY. Trending markets usu. have an ADX GT 25, and range bound markets usu. have ADX LT 25. Advocates trading news in conjuction with techincal analysis. K.Lien has a new book out called Day Trading the Currency Market. I have just started reading it and it is excellent. I saw it listed on R.Bookers web-site (www.piptopia.com) for about $40.
5) Rob Booker: This was by far the best presentation that I attended. Rob has a passion for forex trading that is unreal. His opinion is that the $ will get wacked in the near future. Talked about money management and other forex topics. Said that if you do not have an edge then you should not be trading. You should demo trade for 6 mo. before going live. If you start with premise of protecting your account you will be a successful trader. Decide now that you will never do anything that will risk your entire account balance. Trade consistent lot sizes.
Stop planning your trades after they are open, do not change your stops. It gets too emotional when you make changes after you place your trade. Beware of the bomb at the end of a trend. Mentioned a trading system called Fruity Pebbles that has buy/sell signals. Can use with X-tick or MetaTrader. GBP/CHF tests support resistance very well.

The only presentation that I didn't get anything out of was by Steve Nison. He spent 25% of the presentation plugging his own materials for sale.

I wrote the above material using my notes, so there may be some mistakes since the presentations were only an hour long and therefore fast paced.
