Is this going to be up for the rest of the day now or is it just a fake out move? Opinions please?

It's a little too early to tell for me, but since this primarily is because of a pullback on the dollar from some previous rallies, and seeing no buying of the EURO, it makes me think this is a fake-out. I'm still looking for shorts.

You do know this is caused by pullback on the dollar - not because of EURO strength don't you?
Not the complete trend change. Short term one is on tap, dough, showing that bottom has been seen. It goes in line with my equity and global risk expectations. It is dollar weakness, of course. But remember how it was in spring with euro. No bad news have been priced in. Now, it is nearly the same talk with dollar. This is my 2c.

this break up was news related. usually the move that takes place right after news gets retraced fully to point of origin in time...plus i dont do lucky even though i have been all month....i just dont see any reason to stay in at this time as potential for downside is greater then upside...at least for now

Right - but you gotta think that the euro was at highs at the time, a pullback was kinda expected. It took a few weeks, and until the week of 09/21 on a false breakout set the trend completely.

I guess my point is - from my perspective, a few days isn't going to change the overall trend.

Guess time will tell though.

we are getting dangerously close to a trend reversal though. the upper wall of the downtrend since 1.6 is very close to being tapped...i posted this yesterday but here it is again just for you

and as the chart will show...the trendline from 1.48 has already been broken and currently acts as support..only the one from 1.6 remains before "reversal" is a word that can be freely used

I appreciate it - what happened to the chart saying it was good for shorts though? Can't play both sides of the table here.

Personally (and I must stress this is my own opinion based on my charts and understanding of the market)... I see a mass rally on the EUR due to the weakening of the GBP.

Today's news about the GBP has left London traders wondering what they will do in the next couple of weeks, and if after that time if the BOE will actually cut the UK rate again.

Current is 3.5% > possible is 2%. 2009 has been indiacted to be 1% in line with US rates.

To give you an idea of what that means in the UK:

-Looking back through history the last time UK rates were 2.5% was 8th November 1951

-Looking back through history the last time UK rates were 2.0% was 26th October 1939

Records for the BOE interest rate start from 1694 (6%) and can be found at - http://www.bankofengland.co.uk/stati...lnk&cd=3&gl=uk

So if we do go to 2.5% it would be a massive move, 2% would be the lowest ever on record and under that to 1% would be a historic first in over 300 years!


...with all that in mind the EUR should go up whilct the traders decided how big the UK cut in 2 weeks will be, what impact it has and where they go from there.....

Just make sure that there is resistance before you make that trade. PA could just blast right through...
